1989 I hear on the radio The Who have added a second show at the Oakland Colosium. I pull into the nearby Wherehouse Record store and score 2 tickets. In hindsight I should have bought the 6 allowed as my tickets were front row center! I could have made money on that.
The amount of security we had to go through to get to the front row. Townsend had his hand all bandaged up and stated he was amazed how cold Oakland was in August. It's on the Bay and the fog comes in at night there.
Great show, last time I saw Bill Graham alive (he wore a faded green sweat shirt) and my lovely wife, sitting within spitting distance of a still youngish Roger Daltry says to me, "too bad it wasn't the Rolling Stones." I could'a done serious harm to her but for all the security.
