Well this is disturbing news. UK alcohol consumption at a 23 year low. I don't blame the Stig, Dr. P, Viking, kowolski or Shane's. They do their parts and make up for some slackers but they can't do it alone.

Pick up the pace lads!

Grape distilled Gin? Find me some. http://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2014/0 ... om-grapes/

Also of note the article mentions World Gin Day as June 14th.... something to look forward to.

I mentioned this on one of the Star Trek threads.

I've yet to find any but if any Board member has tried it, a review would be most appreciated.

Come to think of it, we really ought to start a Review Thread, in either TAoGH or ANDR.

Duck Dynasty Patriarch lashes out at drunkards, et alia.
"Neither the sexually immoral, nor the idolators, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Sounds kind of boring in the mythical cloud kingdom.

See that "idolators" part? That's an old Calvanist dig against the Catholics and Orthodox. These people would still be fighting the Thirty Years War, if you let them.

Well, who's not letting them, I ask? It's not me. They have my permission. I'll even pretend to come to Defen-Con 3. Then I'll sneak off and partake of the excellent beer.

He's just reciting scripture. He's a definite Lutheran whereas the network is more likely Jesuit backed. But it's all good.

Whiskey Revival Leads To Shortages In US
A friend of mine who owns a beverage warehouse retail biz tells me this is a fact.

Yep, it's the truth. The whiskey we buy today had to be demand-estimated a decade, sometimes more, in the past. Whether supply meets demand has to do with whether they guessed right. Drinking trends, like every other trend, can be fickle.

Scotch has a unique problem in that it's not only aged longer than bourbon (usually), but they're running out of used barrels to age it in. It's bust-boom cycle, of course. Everyone's building new distilleries like mad (bourbon and Scotch), and some undetermined number of years from now, there will be a glut and oversupply. It's happened before. Some of the best vintage whiskeys out there were barrels that sat around during a glut in closed-down distilleries and aged longer than intended, and then they were bottled and sold at fire-sale prices.
