May I nitpick with the good Doctor? Coriander is actually the seed of the cilantro leaf. And cilantro is mandatory in Mexican cooking. It is delightful!

There are studies that go both ways. I've read only either benefits or nothing, not harm. I take a gram a day, at least.

My sister and I had this argument. She said they were the same and I argued that coriander was not the same since I knew cilantro is a leaf and coriander is a seed. I went home and looked it up to show her the difference.

So many words to say, I agree.

Also, I make an awesome guacamole. For that, I use cilantro and wouldn't imagine using coriander. BUT, my cousin's partner from Guatemala says that mint is a delicious and sometimes preferable alternative to using cilantro.

All of this remains unproven and milk thistle remains unlicensed by both the FDA and the NHS drug approval service. However, its manufacturers manage to get it onto the market by exploiting the fact that "Health Foods" remain a, largely, unregulated area. It is also worth noting the side effects of Milk Thistle and, indeed, any other drug (licensed and, especially, unlicensed)

It will not. You should lay off the Guinness, vitamin C, sashimi and, obviously, iron tablets. Try to drink more tea and give blood as often as possible. However, it is far more important to get your General Practitioner to refer you to a Consultant and get it checked out properly; you may be a candidate for Chelation Therapy.

Oh, not just for any old reason, but only in guacamole. I agree that mint is not a blanket substitute for cilantro, but in the case of guacamole, it's a pretty common one it turns out.

Actually, not so much. If you strictly are referring to the genus of the plant, then I'd have to admit defeat. However, when it comes to cooking, the terms are distinctly different (see embedded linky). Also, this might be one of those subtle differences between US and UK speaking. So since this was a cooking reference and I can only speak about it in US terms, I wouldn't say that I'm wrong. However, since you can only speak about it in non-US terms, you really can't be wrong necessarily either.
