I'm new every day, being reborn in the glory of the haze of the Booze. Some of you may think you know me, but you probably don't, because I don't. I reacquaint myself daily. I shake my head at my peculiar aspects, then refill and forget what I was doing.

I still manage to maintain profitable employment. I'm not sure how. I think it's because brains. Not zombie-style eating, but actually having.

When my Alcohawk tells me to go to the hospital, I know I'm ok. We're all fine here. How are you?

Allow me to add, to my highly-steamed collegue's prose, a short piece of Alfred, Lord Tennyson's Ulysses (which I feel* to be appropriate),

The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks;
The long day wanes; the slow moon climbs; the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come my friends.
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.

Hello, I'm new

Post by PartTimeSober »

As the title says. I believe custom dictates the need for virtual drinks, so get the orders in.

I'm sitting down to enjoy a morning half bottle of gin and a few beers, got the day off today so it might as well be the weekend. I'm in the UK for those wondering about timezones, and no, I'm not gay - I read a few (actually a shitload) of posts before I got around to registering here.

Anyway, back to the drinking. Cheers!

Cheers!

Gin and tonic sounds about right after I finish this pan of coffee.

10 units of your local currency says you drank it. Always the case for me anyway.

Enjoy my new friend. Turns out I need more booze, so a venture outside beckons. At least it's not raining.

Hello Drunkards

Post by Aussie_Ben_bourbon »

Well, it was bound to happen, I have finally found an organised online community that shares my very core values, functional alcoholism!!. Yay for us.

I'm a 28 yr old from the land down under, I've been solidly drinking almost nightly for 10 years and have nevefr looked back. Ive watched it determine my path in this lifetime and have never once questioned it, the catalyst for girl friends leaving me, family members judging me and such.

The beer just doesnt do it for me anymore, I wish it did, but it doesnt. These days I like to get a bottle of JD, cheap champagne barley wine.

I have 3 days off work, and after reading some MDM literature I believe I have enough days to begin a proper bender. Can anyone share there tips/experiences of how they navigated their first legit bender?. I have a mate who is in aswell, between us we have 3 bottles of jd, 3 of beam and 4 cases of a local australin macro, we are in walking distance of a liqour store if (god help us) we run out.

Oh and I saw the MDM movie trailer on youtube....WHY didn't they ever make it?....I got the feeling it was simply a trailor made to be a trailor and nothing else?.

Cheers fellas

Welcome aboard, Aussie_Ben_bourbon. Cheers.

I'm glad you enjoy whiskey, and JD is a favorite of many. That being said, why drink TJD when you could be drinking actual Bourbon? I think there is a recognizable benefit to the upgrade. For example, for about the same money, you could be pouring Jim Beam Black, a far finer flavor and quality. Or, for a substantial savings, you could be enjoying from a host of inexpensive mass production Bourbons, such as the Heaven Hill I am enjoying at this moment.

But I want to be clear I would rather not cast aspersion on a person's beverage of choice, but rather shine a light toward more rewarding alternatives. Subject of course to the individual's preference.

If you're reading this in the midst of your bender, herewith is a translation:
