Re: New to The Board? Then introduce yourself here...
Have a look at the "Drinking Stories" forum and The Urban Spaceman, an experiment in allowing Board members to post certain of their more...sketchy drinking stories with anonymity.
This experiment will run initially for a period of three months. If it works out, maybe it could be expanded. If it doesn't, it'll be put down likeva diseased cur.
For now, enjoy the freedom to tell those stories that you always wanted to share but on which the Statute of Limitations has yet to run out.

Hello, I'm new here even though I've been reading MDM avidly since the turn of the millennium, roughly the same time I started hooching heavily (I'm 43, so a late bloomer). I can honestly say I've never pissed my pants due to drink (I am known for opening up the flies and micturating as the mood strikes, regardless of surroundings), but I have damn near wet myself reading some of the stories herein.
Now what can I get you?

Welcome aboard FreddyRumsensRevenge, better late than never!
After this brutal week of work a warm cheap beer will do it, just to get in the grove and such.

Thanks for the welcome, Oettinger. I seem to have arrived at a rather somber and sorrowful period on these fora. My condolences to all who have lost friends and family.

Re: New to The Board? Then introduce yourself here...
Hello everyone.
I'm happy to say that I was dropped off here unexpectedly.
I was riding a blazing Wild Turkey. It's feathers were made of blistering, white hot flames. It's eyes were two crimson pinpoints of pure feisty inebriated rage.
It spit pure bourbon bile into the crisp winter air. I basked in the acrid spray.
I don't remember how I got the ride. And somehow, I simply don't care. It was probably a drunk dial, for all I know.
This savage, yet somehow comforting beast brought me here, let me down gently, and turned to me.
'You are safe here,' it said. He sounded kind of like Orson Welles.
'This is your Kind. These are your People,' it boomed into my cranium.
It's words seemed prophetic. Idyllic.
Everywhere around me looked like a puffy white cloud, and no square foot was without a unopened bottle of pure, fantastic alcoholic bliss.
The bottles sat there, floating - seductively. The goddamn tramps.
The Wild Turkey barked, oddly, breaking my reverie. It gave a solemn nod, then vanished a blinding flash that smelled faintly of charred oak.
As I looked around, I saw Others. They were happy, peaceful.
Well, some were. They all had bottles - some clear, some brown, some were colors that I simply could not describe without a 64 pack of Crayola nearby.
While a few were laughing, some sat there quietly... and others were hitting each other on the head with violently with curtain rods. Some placed bets on the curtain rod combatants.
'I'm home,' I thought. Finally.
A small, fleecy cloud floated by, tinkling with the sound of unopened bottles. I grabbed one, greedily, but without regret.
Cheers, I said, to no one, and yet everyone in particular.
I thank you all for the opportunity to deplete my brain cell count and share the experience.
And no, I won't talk like this again - still a tad bit undrunk.

It's a thing about true drinking: we see many come and go away, but there are those whom we hope will stick around and have enjoyment...oettinger wrote:Welcome aboard FreddyRumsensRevenge, better late than never!

Your condolences are much appreciated FreddyRumsensRevenge. I speak for no one but the likes of me when I say this:
We come in all manner of color,
of tribes,
of all that life has afforded us,
and we welcome our new friends with a glass of cheer.
Newbie buys a round.
I'll take a tall glass of Kraken.
Welcome aboard.
We are sailing to the island, together.
We meet on equal footing, here.
DRINK!
