I gotta call BS on this.

Alcohol and uric acid are both processed by the liver, so in the long run drinking will not lower uric acid levels. In the short run, I've found, drinking can provide immediate relief from the pain of a gout attack, but eventually you need to cleanse your liver. Some say milk thistle and niacin can speed up recovery, but I do it by drinking lots of water/cranberry juice and taking Aleve (nanproxen) for the pain.

This could all be avoided if I regularly took the Allipurinol I was prescribed and ate healthier (seafood seems to be a killer for me), but fuck that.
