Russian Standard

Post by Rev. Dead Corpse »

I picked up my first bottle of Русский Стандарт today.

Dmitri's recipe is smooth with no aftertaste and as utterly flavorless as a vodka should be.

$19.95+taxes locally.

I've had any number of vodka's. This one will be a regular in the rotation.

At this price point, I honstely can't say I've had better.

I'm not a big fan of vodka, but I did enjoy Russian Standard. Haven't had it in a long time but that's because I mostly stick to whiskey and beer these days. I remember doing 10 shots of it after a break up with one of my many crazy ex's during university (or maybe it was me who was acting crazy, I can't remember). Had a big final exam that I aced early the following morning. Good times.

Russian Standard has been a fairly consistent pick-up at the supermarket recently. Been at about 13 pounds a 70cl bottle so not bad. Agree that it's fairly tasteless but as a back-up bottle it does a job. Get it before the sanctions tighten...

Reminds me of the time when a couple of Finns and a Goddamn Ruski met me and a lady friend in a bar in Munich (87? 89?) and walked away to stick us with the tab.

An alert bartender called them back to pay up and so I ordered shots of AMERICAN FUCKING BOURBON on me just to show I could be the bigger man.

Michelle Micheals. Damn sorry it didn't go farther that night.

I used this, Russian Standard for the Bullshots on Halloween. Not bad at all and as stated great price point.

Russian Standard is a good Vodka. However, in the UK it tends to be around £17 per 70cls (the standard size of a bottle of spirits, over here), which makes it way too pricey for everyday boozing.
A better bet, both price and strength - wise, is "Green Label"; which can usually be found for around £13 per 70cls.

If Vodka I prefer the rough and cheap Vodka.
