This Friday and Saturday Night is our Casino Night and Poker Tournament here at Blackout Island, raising money for one of our favorite charities (and many of our customers as well), the Free Clinic in the mini-mall next door. For those of you unfamiliar with charity casino nights, let me point out some differences between this weekend's casino night and the casino nights held by "Two Ton" Tony and "Poker Face Pat" in the Party Room on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights.

First, Blackout Island's casino night is open to all of our customers, as opposed to Tony and Pat's invitation only policy, although Tony and Pat have graciously offered to run this weekend's casino night. Let's just say they're appreciative of the Free Clinic's services, too.

Second, all of the money you bet at our casino night goes to the Free Clinic; you don't "win" any of it, but you'll also play for great prizes donated by not just the mini-mall next door, particularly Night and Day Ink, the 24 hour tattoo parlor, but also the mini-mall across the street, as opposed to Tony and Pat's, which they swear are merely friendly.

Third, our regular bouncer staff will handle security at our casino night, as opposed to the two guys Tony and Pat have by the Party Room door, Vinnie Balls and Paulie the Nutcracker (please don't ask how he got that name).

Fourth, it's against Blackout Island policy to ask for credit, so please use the ATM inside for cash advances. You might get credit from Tony and Pat, but let's just say you wouldn't like the interest they charge, and they charge it daily.

So come on down Friday and Saturday Night for Casino Night and Poker Tournament here at Blackout Island Tiki Lounge, located in the fabulous Stickitt Inn Motel (famous for its hourly rates), just shy of Downtown, "Where our guests always come first!"
May you all be hung, drawn and quartered!

And while we're on the subject of gambling, here's a couple of announcements from our gaming manager, "Two Ton Tony."

First, in celebration of one of Two Ton Tony's relatives entering the video slots and poker business, Blackout Island will be installing video slots and poker machines starting Monday, so this weekend's Casino Night and poker tournament will be Tony and Pat's last here at Blackout Island. It also means that the Party Room is now available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights. See the manager for booking slots.

Second, please stop calling about what's the spread on pro and college sports. Two Ton Tony says that Johnny the Gent handles all the bookie action, and he runs it from the sports bar on the other side of town, so please call them.

As always, we thank you for your patronage at Blackout Island Tiki Lounge.
May you all be hung, drawn and quartered!

In my last post at Shit Talkers, I mentioned that the gang of German Goths who trashed the tiki bar at Shit Talkers came over here to Blackout Island, looking to start trouble, and how we fought back by giving them free house specialty cocktails, carried them off to the Party Room, and photographed them in compromising positions some of our off-shift waitresses and a few contestants from Bring Your Pit Bull Night. Apparently, they're back here again, behaving a lot better this time, a few of them are even wearing black aloha shirts, so in their honor, we introduce the drink we served them, the Blackout Deluxe, to the regular house specialty cocktail menu at Blackout Island.

(At Blackout Island, every "house specialty cocktail" is made like this:

1 1/2oz. Tequila

1 1/2oz. White Rum

1 1/2oz. 100-proof Vodka

1 1/2oz. Gin

1/2oz. Triple Sec

3oz. Simple Syrup,

and the following for each cocktail:

Mango A Go-go: 3oz Mango Juice, topped with mango chunks,

Witch Doctor's Potion #1: 1 1/2oz. Lime Juice, 1 1/2oz. Coconut Water, served with lime slice,

Pineapple Punch: 3oz. Pineapple Juice, topped with pineapple chunks,

and our newest one, the Blackout Deluxe: 3oz. Ribena. We also replace the White Rum with Kraken.

All of them served over ice with a piece of dry ice for the smoky effect. After all, it's served in a glass with an umbrella, how bad could it be, right? [Laughing maniacally])

(And BTW, Thirsty, our grill menu doesn't really soak up the booze, it actually adds to your drunkenness. You think I'd call the place Blackout Island for nothing?)

Since I won't remember anyway, could I get a triple Charles Bronson Bowl and a basket of deep fried remote control to go? I need to be bright and burly tomorrow (today) for another haircut evaluation scenario.

Shit, we used to shoot guys named Budweiser in the Nam. Stacked 'em like Ten High empties on the perimeter. Can't believe I'm actually posting this seepage. Living the dream, surfing the tubes, wishing I had stolen that tiki idol from Greg Brady, and I would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for you meddling, little fuckstains. Just sayin'.

No offense, Chuck, but you might be too Amish for this line of tiki work.

Sir may want to avoid ordering the Poo-Poo platter today. Might I suggest White Castle instead?

Sorry about taking so long to post. Last Saturday, I thought I burned out the touchscreen on my phone, but it's fixed now.

(And now, a special behind the scenes "Making of Blackout Island."

When I saw the Shit Talkers Bar and Grill thread, I knew I wanted a bar thread of my own. As I was surfing through the MDM website, I came across the term Blackout Island, and I thought, "That would make a damn good name for a tiki bar," and that's how Blackout Island started. As I continued to think about it, I figured that instead of trying to work my way down the dive bar ladder [the way that Thirsty succeeded with The Shed], I'd go slightly more upscale, but with a twist. I decided to take the concept and really run with it - what if there was a bar that encouraged blackouts? So I decided to put it in a "no tell motel" just short of Downtown, put it near mini-malls with all sorts of places to wake up in (24 hour tattoo parlors, Armed Forces Recruiting Stations, Free Clinics, and so on),
When I saw the Long Island Iced Tea Lab thread, I knew what the specialty cocktail menu would be. And for the grill part, I thought that so many pub favorites were made with booze, whether in the sauce, the breading, or whatever, that there's got to be a way to make sure the alcohol doesn't cook away - so that instead of soaking up the booze, the food and bar snacks help to get you even more drunk!

I was looking forward to seeing where you guys would end up after a few rounds at Blackout Island, but hey, there's plenty of time, so as I always say, "Come on down to Blackout Island, for the night you wish you could remember!")
