I was too sick at Thanksgiving to partake from our host's stock, but I bought a bottle for Grumpy for Christmas. I think I found the last bottle available at the time, from some store in a foreign country--I think it was New Jersey-- because when I thought to snag him a second bottle for his birthday, they were out. Every other real life or online source came up dry. I know that it smelled delicious, but I refrained, and let him enjoy his present.
Blantons. It's in such scarce supply, you need a connection. Grumpy knows a guy at work, who knows a guy at work, whose brother-in-law knows a guy whose brother manages a liquor store that gets it in once in a while. So the guy at work told a couple of guys at work (including Grumpy) that a bottle of the heavenly elixir could be theirs for a mere hundred bucks. (Savage fainted)
We cracked it, I had a glass with a little ice, and left him to it. He is rationing it, filling his evenings with lesser libations. The bottle with the horsie sits on the mantel, glared at by his Grumpship, who swears he will save it for our first night in the new house. The house will not be finished until sometime in December.
Shall I take your bets, Gentlemen?

I know that you wouldn't-
couldn't-
...do that to your man,
But what if he says, "Waitaminnit. This tastes like Maker's Mark? Saaaaaavage, would you come here for a second? It's only October, but-"

Mmm Blantons. Now THAT is a damn fine beverage. Painfully scarce too. I've had one bottle and it lasted about 8 months. It was always a real treat to crack into it.

There is less than half left. I put that down to him forgetting it's there, in the now otherwise empty china closet. He goes through the regular bourbon at 375 to 750 a night.

Re: Blantons
Ration it out carefully my dear. Blanton's is now an allocated bottle. It used to be readily available, almost always on the shelf. Now only tumble weeds grace that section of shelving.

Here's my advice: pick up a bottle of W.L Weller 107 to assuage your Blanton's woes. Drink it neat or make a Manhattan and you shant be disappointed.

Excellent recommendation, sir.
It's a newX on the treasure map.
I should simply resign to further exploration of Sazerac Island.
Re: Blantons
Weller of all types are getting harder to find as well.

Harder, but not pappy van impossible to find, and still starting at $25.00-30.00 per bottle. A year or two from now, probably not so much.

I have never seen this Weller you speak of. I do however see it's made by Buffalo Trace and I think I need to find a bottle sometime in the near future.

Good luck finding Weller. The Chinese bought it all.
