Nothing against Peetie but this cat was my favorite ivory tickler. He had style carried on from Prof. Longhair. The Naw'lins influence was deep. The biggest kick in the nuts was I never got to see him live.

Just got the news, goddamn my fav new orleans jazz pianist (as if my list were that long). I'm going to be honest, I knew of him but not extremely well. I knew he was the inspiration for the Muppets' Dr. Teeth, and that he was all New Orleans, and that his voice was beyond recognizable, but not more than that.

Sad. I saw him live in March 2000 as part of Bob Dylan's road band. It was an unexpected treat! Charlie Sexton played guitar for that show too.
