I don't know how factual this is, but i remember being told that Will Self wrote his first few, really weird novels during separate detox periods.

I had a dream the other night I was eating a package of "Porn Star Edition" gummy candies and that McDonald's had a chicken sandwich Big Mac. I wonder where this stuff comes from?!
