A word on "mean drunks"

You've heard it before, something along the lines of "he was a mean drunk" or "the liquor turns him into a total asshole".

Well, here's the thing: alcohol doesn't make people into assholes. It merely takes pre-existing assholes and makes them bigger (and more obvious). So please, let's blame the assholes, not the liquor. Thanks, and cheers.

not sure I fully agree....I feel like there is a big difference between.. saaaay... thinking someone could do with a fist in the face and actually smacking the cunt...the difference between the two can definitely be alcohol. Some people are shitty drunks, my dad is one such drunk.... he's one of the best guys I know, however he can be cunt when drunk. I don't buy the idea that he's just a bad guy who manages to hide that when he's undrunk. I've done things myself that the next day feel morally repugnant...again I don't feel like I was doing some kind of expressing my true self....I just lost track of the meaningfulness of my actions cause I was fucking smashed.

That's my Dad too. I can talk to him until he reaches for the vodka bottle but then all bets are off. At 86 I don't think he's going to change, so I just brace myself for the inevitable.

Clear liquor tends to make me grouchy. It's fairly easy to avoid as I don't much care for it. I do enjoy the occassional bloody mary though. I limit myself with those.
