Is a handle a handle if it doesn't have a handle?

Post by fiyah »

So nowadays we purchase 1.75L bottles and call them 'handles'. But most of them don't have a physical handle on them. Jameson is a perfect example, they used to have a handle on their 1.75L and so we'd call it a handle. Since ~2010, they got rid of handle on the 1.75L and I almost quit drinking...

So do we still use the slang of "a handle" on bottles that are 1.75L without a handle, or just type out "1.75L" instead?

fwiw, i typed "1.85" every time I tried to type "1.75L" in this post, so it's easier to type "handle" instead.

Anyways, thoughts? or just any drunken things to say that don't pertain to this topic?

Close enough, though I do admit I prefer the "handle" to have handle after drink number 10.

I thought handles were just the drunk-proof bottom shelf plastic gallons which I am the biggest fan of.

A handle without a handle is called a fondle.

As strange as referring to something as a handle that doesn't always have a handle is, and that is a strange one, I have a different question. Why don't they just go for the full two liters? They're so close!

I'll still call it a handle or I just call it the "big fuck you" bottle. Most stores don't appreciate that term to be honest.

Is it a handle? Are they grip dimples? Your semantics are making me thirsty.

Well, I mean, Duh.

Side note. I hated when guys would ask me what drink I wanted. The only drink I knew by name was the Screwdriver, and that was because some nice guy I went out with asked me, and when I looked at him like a blank-brained sheep, he said "You're going to love a Screwdriver, and yes I did, and no, no one asked for my ID, because he bought, and then one day, darling Grumpy took me out and suggested bourbon, and I have never looked back since.

Of course my dear fellow. The handle is just a classy touch to prevent us from dropping the whole bottle on our foot, and prevents alcohol abuse
