At 1929 Zulu a USAF C-17 grabbed air over Kabul, and climbed to its cruising altitude and turned towards home, this was the last U.S. plane to leave Afghanistan, ending a twenty year war.
I'll leave it to others to debate the rights and wrongs of the war, all I'll say is, welcome home, too many died there.
And, then it was done

I also, will leave it to the others as I'm no expert. I guess my only opinion is, it could have been handled better - not just at how we departed, but how all of the four presidents that were in office during the past 20 years "handled" it. Angela Merkel included! She's been dinging around there all along!
That aside, for us the main concern now is the possible influx of refugees. This affects us directly and it's creating a lot of discord as many countries in the EU are not seeing eye to eye. Germany did its part in 2015 by opening the floodgates...don't want to get screwed again with people taking over and declaring Sharia law- in a host country! It sounds like a lack of compassion and I'll let oett elaborate as he is extremely knowledgeable in this, but we must tread lightly at whom and how many we take in -with an extensive screening process at the very least.

That’s a valid concern. Of course, it’s an act of humanity to help those in need, especially those who might be refugees as a direct result of our national interests. If you want to be part of the human race, there’s a certain obligation we bear to look out for one another.
But on the flip side, it’s a given that there will be difficulties involving culture shock to the new arrivals as well as animosities raised by social friction. The resettling of some 50,000 Afghan refugees in the US would also provide extremist groups with a prime opportunity to embed their agents domestically. I know that may sound paranoid, but it happened locally with an imam in the Somali refugee community attempted to recruit young men into the terrorist organization Al Shabaab. He was busted by the FBI and DHS.
It’s a sticky wicket, and it’s only getting stickier.

Last flight out of Kabul, I’m sure there will be stories to be told. Welcome home.

Trailer Park Boys, Kids In The Hall and Letterkenny are national treasures. America will liberate them from tyranny of Canadian rule.

Dude, it's either 'murrica or the U.S. of 'murrica to do the liberating as Canadia is also America, eh. The Great White North of the Northern Upper North America, to be exact.

This is very troubling, unpatriotic language, especially coming from a kraut ex-pat such as yourself. You’re not one of the terrorists, are you?Artful Drunktective wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 3:40 amDude, it's either 'murrica or the U.S. of 'murrica to do the liberating as Canadia is also America, eh. No I am not a Soviet Canuckistan but aren't you by not acknowledging Canadia as a part of "America"? P'chaah. Why don'tcha take off to Timmies real quick and grab a box of Timbits and off to the beer store to pick up a two-four and reacquaint yourself with the policy of true Canadianism, eh?Badfellow wrote: ↑Tue Sep 14, 2021 7:26 amThis is very troubling, unpatriotic language, especially coming from a kraut ex-pat such as yourself.
