I haven't posted here in a while.
What is the point? Why Tony, why are you gone? Why did you leave me? Why mother fucker, why?
Liz, I rememer when I first met you. You had a cigarette, and a smile. I was at your bar. This was years ago. You probably don't remember me.
Why did you have to die?
I feel so, so sad. I remember reading Barca's posts...such a gifted writer...and now...I feel lost.
Tony, I miss you. I fucking miss you.
Tony, why did you have to leave me? You fucking asshole. You fucking asshole. I needed you. I need you still.

Sincerest condolences. I never had met either, but their impact here is clear. RIP to them, and hang in there mate.

Didn't really know them... but I do hate hearing they have passed. May not have been active here, but always visiting the boards to read. Once again... sorry to hear.

Re: The only two people I was friends with on here, are dead
I knew them both that they should go so close to one another is almost inconceivable. I spent Sunday deep in a bottle trying not to feel anything. I lost Tony's number a few years ago and hadn't been in regular contact with him. Liz I had been in almost constant contact for a decade. I was just starting to worry because I hadn't heard from her in about 2 weeks. I think the longest we were out of contact was 2 months. I just found I have close to 3000 texts and private messages from her. I have been re-reading them. It's troubling how long she was worried about dying. But I have taken solace in some of the beautiful and silly things she said in them too.

Some folks have an effect on you.
I met Liz on this damned board, and she...

...but i don't know shit about her.
...she was l...
still kinda is...

Hey Big Man, that thing on you and her's head kinda looks like my wife's bra.
Just sayin'

It's a blanket we were being discreet on the floor at Mayhem's during Invasion 1. We emerged to deny charges of impropriety. And Tony was waiting with a camera

Re: The only two people I was friends with on here, are dead
I had something to do w/ Tony losing what may have been that very same camera during my ill-fated Rochester Karaoke trip. The next morning, he woke up in the ER in, what he referred to as a "sea of vomit", bruised or broken ribs and a scar across his nose.Oggar wrote:It's a blanket we were being discreet on the floor at Mayhem's during Invasion 1. I awoke laying in a vomit pillow on the floor of my hotel room with what felt like a fractured skull from, what I later learned was a backwards fall down a staircase from the 2nd floor of the hotel down into the lobby. The receptionist said it was quite spectacular.
It was probably best that Tony's camera was lost as he was using it liberally during the evening we spent together.
I think nights like that are best left to imagination rather than the cruel lense of photos and social media. I'd like to think that Tony and I spent the evening at the Old Toad and other Rochester establishments as Gods among men, regaling folks with stories of our adventures both far and wide - women adored us, men wanted to be us.
The photos from Tony's camera could never live up to the somewhat blurred mental images I still have of that night with Mr. Mayhem.
fuck em man, it ain't easy walkin the righteous path.

I will always remember Tony giving me shit when I jumped traffic and ran across the street with Shmoo in his Capri pants. It's like the only clear moment I have of that night.

yup. heard about it after i planned my trip. i've already donated to lollypop farm in memoriam, and have a knee-to-ankle size tattoo i had designed to honor his love of all things living.Palinka wrote:Also, have you heard about The Memorial Fund and fundraising efforts for it?Patchez wrote:Did you guys see the thread about the Mass. i can't do a cross-country trip in late may. my coworkers need me at the helm of things then.
PLUS it's not rochester, or the toad. i plan to meet up with some of the people who were closest to him (ex-wife & granddaughter, girlfriend, toad friends) and offer hugs and lasting friendship.
AND it's a full month after his (& liz's) birfday(s.)
but i hope everyone does it up real good and loses their pants or whatever.
