Re: Palinka?...
It truly is a rollercoaster.
Just now got this from Palinka's friend Alex.
The news got better today. Still bleak but no longer hopeless. It'll send a long mail out tomorrow but wanted you to know tonight.
Cheers Alex.
Huh. Time to drink

I`m still bewildered from all of this.
Palinka himself is probably the only doctor on this board who could calm us with further medical info in a situation like this, damn

Re: Palinka?...
The very first time I ever met him was on IRC. It was maybe a day later I was bitching about having to renew my fluoxetine scrip every four months. He just offered up out of the blue "Send it over and I can underwrite it for a lifetime prescription." I didn't even know he was a doctor at that time, and unfortunately I never took him up on that offer. I have heard from plenty of other people though that he's given them a ton of medical advice and suggestions. He's a good man, I hope he makes a full recovery and doesn't end up in pain, and come this Sunday if he's still alive, I will be attending church and making a special prayer for him. I just also hope that whatever happens with him is what he would have wanted.

Well... If heartfelt prayers helped at all... Let's see what more prayers and a couple of stiff belts of homemade mead offered to Eir and Odin can do...mistah willies wrote:It truly is a rollercoaster.

There is one certainty: if his body has to give up at one point, none of us will forget his soul. How appropriate that soul and spirit are the same word in so many languages. No Drunkard of his stature die, we just drink to their eternity and slur about their legend.
Cheers my friends.

I will not allow myself to cry until I hear something, anything, definite. Until then, this gin is for Palinka.

Bought Bombay gin instead of Seagram's today as a step up in honor of Palinka. You'll pull through this buddy. We know you're too tough of a son of a bitch not to!

The following just arrived from Alex.
That is pretty definitive.
Hey man
Well I've asked if I can visit along with some of his old school friends and the consultant has said that we should wait at least another week or two before we think about friends seeing him.
If or when I get the OK I'll pass it on to you.
The other thing to consider is that Patrick has NOT been responsive or conscious in ANY way since having the fit last Sunday, and being kicked out of the ICU. He was doing well up until then, watching tv and looking into people's eyes etc, but he's really just a body in a bed right now so you might feel that flying intercontinental to see him would be of limited utility? It's possible that people's voices might help I suppose but nothing has worked for the last week.
So sorry for the discouragement.
Alex
