Show me Newman getting trashed again. He spelled his name wrong, anyway.

I prefer to watch old things, or silly things:
(by no means a complete list; merely par exemple)

My Man Godfrey--1936, please. As much as I love David Niven, when he remade it in the fifties, he must have phoned his role in. William Powell, and the wonderful rest of the cast of the original are my massive faves.

The Haunting. The original. Definitely not that sad abortion from a few years ago. Grumpy and I saw it (the dreadfully sad abortion etc) in a cheap seat theater, and it was so bad, that he lost track of the whole thing. When that Wilson boy (I never remember which one has which name) got his head clipped off in that enormous fireplace, everyone in the theater laughed, except for my dear man, who was distracted, and screamed. Dear god, that was a dreadful picture. And yeah, when he screamed, I laughed, because I am a B**** that way, and he would have done the same thing to me.
Oh, this is going on too long, but if you don't find humor in "Murder by Death" or "High Anxiety" (just to name a couple of), then shame on you, you boring old or young thing.

And if you don't love Young Frankenstein, get out of here. Also, do not even begin to be offended by Blazing Saddles. It was written to be funny, and to make a point or two, or forty-six, and RICHIE PRYOR wrote some of it. That being said, my daughter and I are holding off on letting the babies see it, until maybe they are like, junior high-ish. America is a tough town. We want them to understand what was going on there.

The Time of your Life - A highly underrated (almost forgotten) movie, starring Jimmy Cagney as a barfly. Drink Recommendations: well whiskey and keep 'em coming.

Mel Brookes was given the Lifetime Achievement award at the AFI awards banquet here in Hollywood in June which was shown on AMC. He got away with a lot of politically incorrect humor back in the 70's that you could not put over today. Talking Blazing Saddles. They showed the N-word scenes and everybody laughed. As Arte Johnson would say "verrry interesting".

James Cagney The Public Enemy 1931
Great scene showing the last night before prohibition when all stores were run upon and booze was hoarded.
But there is the classic grapefruit in the face scene.

A critic reveals his top ten Westerns. Anyone agree?

Great call Pali. There were a couple classics I hadn't seen. They are now at the top of my Netflix Q.

My favorite western is Blazing Saddles. Also, am looking forward to a flick called "Bad Grandpa."

OK, since Dear Lady S. Is keen on pushing Mr Kaminski's Oeuvre, I shall, heretofore, feel no compuction in listing Kurosawa Akira's wonderful films.
To begin with, Rashomon (so influential). Drink Recommendations: Sake, sake and more sake.

The only one of these I have seen is unforgiven. I haven't watched nearly enough westerns since channel 5 stopped showing them on sunday afternoons
