That's awesome. I hope that's true.Savage wrote:I just read some Godfather trivia that said that the horse head in the bed scene was so real because the actor wasn't expecting the very real horse head that they put there. Supposedly they got it from a dog food company. No wonder the blood looked so real.

Actually it's not just your opinion. I remember reading in film school that it was actually polled as being the best movie ever made.Judge wrote:Oh and..... the first Godfather movie is the best movie ever made. Just my opinion which of course overrides yours.

Ok everyone. The Big Casino is correct. Goodfellas, by far, is the best mafia movie.
And FNZ is also correct. Miller's Crossing is excellent and underrated.
And Casino (the film not the drunkard), is even better than Goodfellas. Although, I'm not sure Casino could be considered a gangster movie.
Having said all that, Godfather I and II are quite good. III is not worth the time.

I still think Citizen Kane is the best movie ever made. I've come home plastered and put that on so many times that it isn't even funny.

Re: Godfather trilogy
The Godfathers sons failed, each in their own way. Freddo was the weakling; you see the foreshadowing when he almost dies in very early childhood, and we assume that momma and papa coddle him. At one point in the movie, Michael sends him to Vegas, and tells him to rest. Now Santino, his weakness is anger, agression. Always hot, always ready to jump on your ass. (Very Grumpy) And then, early on, the traitor son in law signed his ticket. Now, Michael, he wanted to be the man his father was, but he had a bit of the hot temperment in him, but he kept it very low key. Much later, when Kay showed up, when his son was starting his singing career, I could see his yearning. Kay was so cold, when she told him she killed their son. I just cannot imagine such a thing. How cruel and evil she was. That whole scene was so hard to believe. I think that this was so out of character for Kay. Maybe I will understand it better when I get my book, but it is not here yet. Yet, she wasn't cold. She was so unhappy, so broken-hearted, that she didn't know whether to shit or go blind. So there, to my my mind, is the major malfunction of the story.
