Last Saturday some friends and I went to a street dance and got considerably smashed while listening to a classic rock cover band. Some of the highlights included:
War-Spill the Wine
Guns 'n Roses-Sweet Child 'O Mine
Who-Who Are You
AC/DC-Have a drink on me
Billy Joel-Piano man (not a huge fan of the song but when 500+drunks are screaming the lyrics it becomes an entirely different beast.)
Elvis Costello-Pump it Up (my favorite of the night by far. it was unexpected and perfectly played and a surprising number of people knew the song.)

For being weepy drunk, I can think of no better than Five Shots of Whisky by Hank III.
For partying with friends, Party Till You Puke by Andrew W. K. is an instant classic.
For meditative sampling of the finer things, Into The Mystic by Van Morrison has served me well.
For long journeys of the soul, John Coltrane's interpretation of My Favorite Things is sure to satisfy.
Just Friends by Amy Winehouse stands out among recent discoveries. Sometimes when you drink you want to cut through the bullshit, and in some situations that can be dangerous.

They tried to make me go to rehab, I say no, no, no...

A big favourite of mine. I like to think it sums up my various attitudes to drinking between about 9am and midday.

The Zutons have a point.

And for no apparent reason, but I always end up totally hamming it up singing this when I'm off my face.

Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" is Sweet Lou's theme song. I can't go into details.
When I wanted to do some wholesome old country drinking, I'd queue up the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, The Dubliners, or Paddy Reilly's solo stuff.
The Pogues were good when the night progressed to that point that coherency didn't matter as much as heart.
