Drink of the Week 10/30

Post by Barca »

I spent most of the day involved in the Happy Fun Wacky Super Drinking Alcohol Science Fun Time Hour Challenge. I was also simultaneously in the All-Drink Week Challenge. And I also spent most of my day playing the Cops drinking game.

These things taught me something. This process, that is. At the risk of repeating myself, what I learned is Drinking is good.

I've been mixing absurd, mismatched and incompatible liquids for several days. At no point has an absurd and incongruous mixture been unacceptable. Some have been distasteful and some have been taxing, but none have been entirely unwelcome.

So, I reiterate my contempt for the I only drink Bourbon and the only drink vodka and the etc. crowds. Once you entrench yourself and shut off other types of alcohol, other ways of drinking, other drinking realms, you only punish yourself.

The DOTW is Vodka, mixed with two things you've never mixed into vodka.

It's just that easy.

Enjoy.

Condensed milk and Tabasco sauce? 151 rum and coconut cream? Smushed peas and stewed tomatoes? Carrot juice and Wink?

There's not a lot I've not, but I'll give it a go.

I take my wink straight.

I endorse this drink, both as a man of science and as a bastard.

BBQ Sauce and Gunpowder.

[Edit] Actually not too bad. I'm having a second one. The gunpowder offers a charcoal/smoky/sulfur taste, an enhancment to the BBQ sauce. I am using greasy, vinegary local BBQ sauce, not store bought stuff. And the gunpowder is Pyrodex, not real black powder. Smokeless powder might not taste as good. I used a spoon to crush a small amount (5 gr) of powder in a small dish before adding to the drink. It still tends to settle to the bottom, so I have to swirl my drink often. Scardy cats may want to put out their cigarette while handling the gunpowder, I didn't.

Takes me back to a time when I was even poorer than I am now, when I was forced to subsist on nothing but friendship, and that only goes a certain distance as everyone has problems.

When times are dire, and funds are short, everyone can become resourceful, and try cocktails that they would otherwise never think of. One that I ended up with was made from Cachaca (a bottle had somehow appeared in my flat, I seem to remember strangers bringing it but not much else), and the liquid left over from an instant noodle. It was without a doubt the schemiest equivalent of a Bloody Mary that I have ever consumed.

Well, as I have to go to a pal's flat to deal with his computer (some people should not be allowed near the damn things), and there is Vodka there, I will see what I can do, afterall, it can't be worse than using the aforementioned shite.

Perfect Timing!

I was feeling something in myu throat coming on this evening so I had just told the wife to fix me some tea with the only hard alcohol in the house, Stoli O. Top that with some honey, and I think I'm cured.

I think this is my fav DOTW ever and I havent even tried it yet.

becuase I want to join in the fun and all... vodka, baileys and dr pepper. I don't know if it's a bad mix, or a dirty glass or what. but it totally curdled. But tastes kinda like a fucked up chocolate milkshake, so I'm drinking it anyway.

So this is what happens with vodka and baileys and Dr. Pepper.

It's not pretty.

Equal parts Bourbon, Godiva liqueur, Baileys and Thrilla Vanilla. Call the dentist--I think my back teeth bailed. Oh wait. I forgot the vodka. I am not good at following rules ('tis one reason I'm not a nun),
