Curing a hangover with clam juice? No offence, but my stomach is crying "fuck you".

The Perfect Bloody Mary:

Fill glass 1/2 to 3/4 full of crushed ice.
Add 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce, 3 dashes Tabasco, 2 olives (anchovy stuffed are best), and squeeze 1 lime wedge. Shake in Celery salt to coat ice (KEY ingredient!)

Insert 1 celery stalk from the middle of the bunch. Y'know, the good and tender, short, leafy ones.

3 oz. vodka- frozen is best.

Fill remainder of glass with V8 (or Clamato... but I have V8 )

Then, and this is the other KEY ingredient, add freshly ground pepper.

Stir with celery stalk.

Strong, you say? Gets you three times as drunk, beeotch.

Is this a homeopathic cure? Or did you leave something out? 'Cause that looks like something my teetotaller grandma would drink.

I could have a thermos of that in my hand, half gone, and not get breathalized.

The non-booze recipes dwell elsewhere... there's like a whole separate forum... whole separate website, too... it's called allrecipes.com. They're great... they've got pies and salads and all sorts of cookie recipes.

I... feel the love.

I am going to try Ivan's recepe, sounds delicious.

What do you others have against a formulation that has the same alcoholic content as beer? The BM is a recovery potion; there are times you need to hydrate and replace lost vital bodily fluids, dammit.

My Bloody Mary's pretty damned good... I think you'll like it.

The same alcoholic content as beer? No. And that is the crux of the issue.

12 oz. of beer at 5% alcohol by volume (ABV)=
6 oz. @ 10% ABV=
3 oz. @ 20% ABV=
1.5 oz. @ 40% ABV.

If you're going to make mixed beverages, then any liquor content should be a multiple of 1.5 (or 3/2, if you're better with fractions).

And no matter how much booze you're using, there shouldn't be a ten to one ratio between mixer and booze. A 10-1 booze to liquor ratio is fine...

But don't be shocked when 2/3 of a beer draws snickering around here.

If you want to hydrate, drink water. We're here to catch a buzz.

I'm in no state to do math fractions but am having one of your BM's now; not bad, no doubt I'll be too shitfaced to head for work after I'm done so will try the alternative recipe the Mrs. likes:

Vodka
Horseradish
Clamato
Sqeezed lemon juice
White pepper

Won't divulge the percentages on the certainty I'll be labeled a pansy by the hardcores.

Absolut Peppar is made for Bloody Marys. It's almost mandatory for you to use it.

I'm a bartender, heed my advice. It's in your best interest.

I'm not a fan of Absolut. Not at all. Is the Peppar sufficiently different?

It makes the Bloody Mary tast that much better, yes.

How it tastes on its own I cannot say, as I too am not a fan of Absolut.

Cool. A couple of years ago the Toad was experimenting with Vodka infused with hot peppers, like chilis and habaneros. No one would drink it, so they gave me free shots of it regularly. I'm not a big fan of pepper Vodka, but I'll take your council on this.

Agree...plus it seems like it'd take like two minutes to make one, at which point I'd be like, fuck this vodka, where'd my booze go?
