I need recipes, please!

Post by Tipsy McStagger »

Wend yard sale shopping this weekend. Alas, I did not purchase a single yard, but I did purchase a grape press and some nice bottles to put those crushed grapes in.

What I need now is a recipe for wines (red or white) and I'll be in business.

Yes, I know I could do a Google search to find a recipe. I'm hoping we have some people that have actually tasted the recipe they provide. As is the intent of most that search for recipes among friends...

It's actually super easy. Crush grapes, add yeast. Put in sealed container.
Still just figuring it all out. Still not really figuring it out.

Depends on the variety of grapes you use, how much sugar, tannins and acidity they contain, and a bunch of other potentially complicated shit. But let me ask: what kind of wine do you want to make? Or more importantly, what kind of wine do you want to drink?

Congrats on the press. You made a wise purchase. I'm all for ferment-it-yourself projects.

How many grapes? Better yet, what kind of grape to make Pinot Noir or Merlot? Where do I get these grapes? How much yeast? How long should it stay in a sealed container?

And better yet, how does it taste?
