In the spirit of the short work week, my mind casts hazily back to college. Although I tried to add a little class to the parties I got dragged into tending bar at and subsequently taking people to the hospital from, I never could beat the old favorite, Rum & Coke.
With another heat wave sucking the life out of my fellow Angelenos, I feel a need to stand out on a street corner and dispense Sailor & Coke in sno-cone holders brimming with crushed ice. Take that, community church handing out free water! My saints go marching in with a bigger smile and a lot happier outlook. Plus, the chicks put out.
So raise a glass (or a large glass Tiki head) of your favorite Rum & Coke to toast the last few days of summer. Lime slices are 5 cents extra.
