Y'all make me thirsty. I was having my second Beam/mini Budweiser at the local last night when I realized that this current thirst wasn't going to be quenched in one sitting. I wanted something...more. Something expansive. Then Liquor&Poker asked why anyone would drink a Vodka Martini. I know I do because I can drink a lot of them. A lot of different thems, to be precise. So here we go:
Vodka Buffett
1 1.75l Vodka, chilled
1 bottle dry Vermouth
1 tin smoked oysters
1 tin sardines in oil
1 jar garlic and/or cheese-stuffed olive
1 jar Spanish olives
1 jar cornichons
Every glass in the house
Some guests
Make a half-size (3 oz) Martini for each guest. This is where you get to show off your champagne cocktail glasses you found at a thrift store. I'd recommend against pouring the oils/brines into your shaker or pitcher as they smell will taint the next round. Pass the making duties to the next person and have them choose an ingredient. Repeat until the bottle is gone. On a personal note, I find spicier olives (and pickled habaneros/jalapenos) better with Gin, but feel free to add those to the rotation if you have a lot of Prilosec you want to get rid of. I'm taking the day off tomorrow and may well be drinking the DOTW a little early.

Vodka is the right choice for this sort of adventure. Not discounting my love of gin in the least, but a good, clean vodka allows each particular garnish to shine, broadcasting it throughout your drink rather than confusing the issue with juniper and botanical complexities. That's simply my opinion.
And my pick for the vodka is Moskovskaya. Quality vodka doesn't have to be expensive.

Well.. since September 24th will be my 37th birthday... I will give it a try. It' really doesn't sound to appealing to me but hey! It's a drink!
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'till I'm sane
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
