Drinks to knock out a cold?

Post by H.P. Loveshaft »

Having survived my best friend and my own 30th birthday parties in the span of a week, it seems the warranty has run out and I've been hit with the nastiest bug I've had in years. Sinus, cough, sore throat, fever, zero appetite have been the order of the day. I've tried my traditional remedy of bourbon with honey and lemon, and it helped to some degree. Anyone else got any booze home remedies?

I recommend any citrus drinks. I'm a big fan of the old Cape Codder when I'm under the weather.

When I'm sick I like gin and grapefruit, unless it's cold out. Then brandy toddies are a big favorite.

Cape Cod was great, I was really getting sick of orange juice. Rye on the rocks was as close as I could get to rock-n-rye. Turns out this is some kind of flu/cold combo, and it's getting pretty freaking annoying.

I tend to knock out colds really well with plain ol' Bourbon.

Barring that, Vodka and Theraflu. It will knock your ass out cold, and you'll wake up well.

I use canarian honey rum and hot drinks immediately when I feel like I'm getting a cold.

I have now tested this method several times and for me it has worked all these times. I should clarify that this is not actually a cure but it will most certainly make your cold lesser. This may seem ridiculous to some of you non believers out there but for me it works every time.

The most important thing about this 'cure' is that you start the treatment immediately when you feel like getting a cold, slightly coarce throat etc.

I recommend canarian honey rum for this cure. Pour one shot or swig it straight from the bottle like the dirty pirate you are, hold it in your mouth and gargle in your throat. You must do this atleast twice a day, preferably in the morning and in the evening. Between these two shots you must keep drinking drinks such as home made red/black currant juice mixed with sugar and hot water. Hot chocolate will also suffice or honey mixed with hot water. As a bonus you can mix rum in hot chocolate if you're not working that day 8). I recommend mixing hot chocolate with Havana Club 7.

Repeat this for atleast 2 days, 3 days to be safe. This may kill your cold altogether but if not it will atleast tame it down so much you will hardly notice you have a cold.

Best way to go is a pint of bourbon, get under the blankets and sweat it out. It's a shitty way to go, you won't want to drink it, and it will be tough to keep down, but the next day you should wake up feeling much better.
Beer's just being social. Whiskey's drinkin'.

If you have lots of congestion in the chest and nasal cavities, I would HIGHLY suggest Der Lachs Goldwasser Liqueur. If you can't find that, GoldSchlager will do. Both are cinnamon based and the flakes of gold...well, who doesnt want to drink gold? Drink a flowing shot at night, you won't be sorry.

Rock and Rye is the best. You can make it yourself with some rock candy and Rye. But Hiram Walker still makes the stuff.

My second choice is the ghetto toddie: Theraflu and Sailor Jerry.

Anything that catchs fire is the rule. Im serious as well!!! if it can catch fire it is good for killing colds. Im a bit limited but usually i go with vodka but i think whiskey/whisky is better or so i have been told. Make sure its strait and in a glass no shots just a glass of fuel and youll be right.
