Dirty Gin Caper

Post by libertyjug68 »

I suppose it is not a new idea but here is the recipe, and the cause for our stumbling into it, but more important our stumbling because of it---My friend and I sat amongst empty wine bottles, a drained Knob Creek bottle, empty beer cans as well as full ones but we were in the mood for liquor. She suggested martinis and of course that sounded lovely. She announced a partial bottle of gin, trotted out a long ago opened bottle of vermouth and then disclosed that there were no olives but instead a jar of pickled capers (a garnish not a series of drunken adventures). We thought about their addition to the cocktail and decided they would work. It is a good drink without the vermouth, or the capers but quite nice with them too. So add some of the pickling brine and bring a fork for your veggies.

Tbh in a martini even cheese and pinapple on a stick is ok as long as its got plenty of gin in it.
Drunk? I'm not drunk! You wouldn't dare accuse me of that if I was s0ber!

Dirty Gin Caper

I think I'd stay away from the chlorine unless of course you think the cutting board is harboring the plague, dengue fever, or something.Juice a couple of lemons. Apply the juice to the wood, then sprinkle it liberally with salt.Let it stand for a while, over-night even. Then scrub the board with more lemon juice and salt. After the scrub, put it in the sun for a few hours.

While I've always felt that "don't fuck with the martini" is a damn fine piece of advice, I do think the garnish is one place you can freely be creative. Capers are good, and cold gin is good, so I can't object. I'll have to try one.
