sleepy jean, from the hungry cat

Post by nic the chick »

this is my spring cocktail. i'm going to take the reposado EVERYWHERE with me in a flask. it's absolutley delicious and refreshing, like sunshine in a glass.

2 ounces chamomile-infused Hacienda Vieja reposado tequila*
1 ounce honey simple syrup**
1/2 ounce Dolin dry vermouth
1/2 ounce lemon juice
Lemon twist for garnish
Combine the first four ingredients. Shake and strain over fresh ice and garnish with lemon twist.

*Chamomile-infused Hacienda Vieja reposado tequila

1 750 milliliter bottle of reposado tequila
8 ounces chamomile tea
Combine the tequila and the tea. Allow to infuse for two days. Strain and save tequila.

**Honey simple syrup

Honey
Water
Combine equal parts honey and water. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.

monday is my day off. that is also when my chamomile and infusion vessel are scheduled to arrive on the big brown truck. already acquired a bottle of espolon reposado from my brand new bevmo.
i only drank enough to figure out that i might need another bottle for the infusion.
i love science.

This doesn't sync with the eternal bourbon/vodka debate and it confuses me...

While this reads like a killer drink, I'm trying to imagine if/when I'd ever be able to maintain a stage of s*obriety long enough to successfully assemble the ingredients and then actually follow the recipe.

do you have a hard time making a martini?
how about a perfect manhattan? (i'll be drinking those today whilst concocting the other stuff.) perfection takes time. what else would i do on my day off? laundry?!
i'm making the tequila and simple syrup in large batches, so i can use them all month. there are folks here who brew their own beer, make moonshine, cook 25 lbs of bacon at a time, and shoot their own food, but can't get to the damn post office to send out the hbe boxes that have been sitting by the door for two months. why? because going to the post office is not one of those things one can do drunk.

Ur, uh...yeah {:^(

However, I can open a beer, a bottle of whisky and sometimes open a bottle of wine without getting too much broken cork into the contents.

i've lived through enough shit to be the most luxurious bitch on the block. my tequila will be ready in the morning, all set to pour into a flask that is adorned with pink swarovski crystals.

most. luxurious. bitch. EVER.

Sounds like a good drink. I love tequila, but have never infused it with anything. Tequila in the flask is always a good thing!
