Indeed. The batches are identified, and so a person might find one that is particularly to their liking, and then they would want to pursue more of that batch. Like a good year in grapes from a specific valley.

The raw cask does look interesting. Don't think I've drank a whisky that wasn't chill filtered, so would be great to try. Not sure about the name though...

chill filtering doesn't do much for me. But saying that I don't have a great palate

Blackadder is an independent bottler of whisky, and have been knocking around for years and years. They buy casks of malt and bottle them and don't own any distilleries. Some are diluted and some at cask strength and they have several ranges. They have a good (but not great) reputation amongst the plethora of independents - i find them slightly overpriced. I had a few and never been disappointed.

I forgot - It wouldn't be possible to detect if a single malt was chillfiltered or not. Maybe possible if two samples of the same whisky were tried side by side. Chillfiltration is for aesthetic purposes.
