More Gin Recipe's. A Classic and My take on a Classic

Post by Patchez »

The Classic.

The Bronx

Dry, short apertif

cocktail glass
shaker

3/4 oz gin
2 tsp sweet red vermouth
2 tsp dry vermouth
3/4 oz orange juice.

Shake with ice. Strain into glass.

Gonna try this one this weekend.

A twist on the Quebec.

Calling it the Dubliner

1 part gin
1 part Jameson's whiskey
1 part lemon juice
1 dash Angostura bitters

Shake with ice and strain into glass.

This one came from necessity as I have no Canadian Whiskey for this weekend.

I have off both days and will report back in the review thread.

I need to catch up. That feeling of losing the tracks when hunting...

So, I went to the Bear Brew Pub in Orono tonight and had three excellent Martinis. Did ya know that they serve Hendrick's with a slice of cuke?

Probably because Hendricks has that cucumber note in its bouquet.

Now for some of that gin I got form Burby and Bates

I had to look that pub up, Mistah Willies. I like how on the menu in your pic, they claim to be Orono's premiere pub, but on the website, they claim to be Maine's best pub.

The internet is like Texas... everything must be BIGGER there.

Everything. Even the cucumbers.

However, Maine has moose, which were custom-designed to kill car drivers. Don't mess with Maine.

You know, the Bear Brew has them Serge wings. I think that mere mortal men cannot maintain the essence of manliness when maowing on those summina bastidges.

one hears rumors of the ghost pepper in the sauce...

Having been baptized in the fire that is spicy Southwestern cuisine, I fear no hot wings. If I am ever in the area, I will maow upon those bastidges post-haste.

I was once gifted a bottle of Dave's Insanity Ghost Pepper sauce.

I put three drops into my bowl of soup. No sweat. Child's play.

Added three drops more... I was feelin' it.

I added an unknown number of more drops, and was greeted with liquid Hell. To my credit, I finished it. The rivers of mucous flowed freely.

Sauces like that cheat by adding refined capsaicin, so it wasn't a true ghost pepper challenge, but it was like being pepper sprayed in a tasty manner.

That it does. The true aficionado chilihead dreads not the immediate burn, but the subsequent Johnny Cash.

And by that I mean Ring of Fire.

What's funny is, I wrote that before clicking your link.

We are on the same page.
