Infinity bottle!

Post by Patchez »

The infinity bottle is a concept that I has recently come up on my radar. It may have been discussed before but I haven't bothered to search because, well, I'm lazy.

Anyhow the concept of the infinity bottle is : find an empty and fill it with the last 1 or 2 Oz. or the last 30 ml of all your near empty whiskey bottles.

The idea is the taste will always change. It will evolve.

I like it.

My plan is an American whiskey bottle and a Whisky bottle.

Maybe down the road a blend of the two bottle.

The more potent drink will try to take over. Good idea indeed!

Try some unusual stuff also. Beer, fruit-schnapps and the such

I think it was the movie Gangs of New York and in the bar they had a barrel called "Allsorts" that was all the leftover drinks thrown in. I think it was everything, beer whiskey and backwash. If you were down on your luck you could get a mugfull for like a nickel. We've had discussions about the disgusting thought of drinking from that barrel.
I've had nights of clearing out the liquor cabinet where I drank all the partial bottles, one by one, but I never had the balls to mix em all together.
I'll think about it, but if you do it let me know how that goes.

Back in my teenage drinking days all the juvenile delinquients hung out in this local park.
After emptying a 5 liter party keg we went around and asked every group of people to poor something in it.
It turned out to taste like water, metal and pure alcohol. I think the plum schnapps was the icing on the rotten cake.

Not a bad idea, Patchez, but I'm with Thirsty on this.

Don't think I have the discipline to save the last ounce or so of a good bottle...especially if I'm drunk.

I have heard tell that some people just top off the first oz. when they crack the bottle open as well. Could try that. backwash free.

I also have a discipline problem. So not every bottle is going to end up in the infinity bottle. I probably ought to have a notepad some where so I know just what the fuck I put in there.

Not a bad idea, but again might be a discipline issue.

Last thing I'm gonna be thinking about when I crack a new bottle is finding a funnel and skimming some off.

I have one of those measuring jiggers right at my cabinet and bar. Just gotta remember to pour one in there before sucking down the whole bottle. Wish me luck. So far only one has made it into the infinity bottle. I have several open of the good stuff, none of that in yet. Killed the handle of Even last night. None of that went in.

Meh it's a work in progress. Should it ever progress I'll let you know how it turned out.

Update:

I've actually managed to get some whiskies into my Infinity bottle.

Current list: Willet Potstill
90 proof airline bottle from the 70's of Traitor Jack Danniels
Four Roses
Old Forrester Signature
Four Roses Small Batch
Mitcher's Bourbon
Weller Special Reserve.

Taste is a caramel and honey start giving way quickly to hints of cinnamon and a spicy peppery finish.

Just a techincal question. How quickly does alcohol evaporate from opened bottles? Not that you end up with a whiskey-ish liqueur.
On the other hand that would be something new right? Go ahead anyway

I have a cork in it. No more evaporates than any other corked bottle of whiskey.

You've now described the taste of Tullamore Dew but in reverse.
