Bye-bye, Manny...you cheating POS. Wonder how long it will take (a day or two, maybe?) before this clown forgets how to speak English like that other bitch, Sammy Sosa?

If pro baseball really wants to fix this problem (attendance/TV-ratings say "I doubt it"), they need to give everyone in organized baseball 365 days to get clean. Then test them all and ban for life -- NO EXCEPTIONS -- any player who tests dirty. Then randomly test every player in organized ball once a year during the season and once a year in the offseason and then continue with a lifetime ban for ANY and EVERY player who tests positive for steroids.

Manny is clearly a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Only Ruth, Williams, and Bonds had a higher career OPS among outfielders.

It's crystal clear because the numbers don't lie. Just ask Mark, Sammy, Raffy, etc.

Whatever policy voters take towards players who used steroids is fine, as long as that policy doesn't suddenly change down the road when A-Rod comes up on the ballot. I have a strong feeling it will.

I don't think it's simple enough to say that once a player uses steroids than all his numbers are a lie, especially considering how widespread performance-enhancers were in the MLB and how many pitchers were using them as well. No creams made Bonds see the strike zone as well as he did and have more career base on balls than anyone else in history. Cal Ripken Jr. would have still been a great player regardless of him getting addicted to greenies.

The Tribe has won 7 straight. First place. And tonight we will punk the Angels because I will be in attendance. Louie is too intimidated to show up.

Totally agree...but then we don't vote for the HOF, do we?

He doesn't get a free pass because of how well he could see the strike zone, The Mick could see the strike zone pretty well too.

Like I said- I'm not asking for a pass. If you give up A-Rod then I'll give up Bonds. I'm pretty certain we'll see a double-standard in the future though.

I'm not sure what The Mick has to do with anything in this case.

I'll give up A-Rod in a second, even less. If Jeter comes up dirty, he can take a hike too.

I mentioned the Mick because he could see the strike zone just as well, and still had a hell of a career without the 'roids, unlike some players ( Bonds, Manny, A-Rod, Pettite, Raphael, etc.. etc.. ).

You're right about the A-Rod vs Bonds HOF question; though neither man is exactly loved and cherished by members of the media.

I recall that the first year (forget exactly which year it was) when organized baseball began testing pro players at all levels, it was found that well over 60% of the players testing dirty for steroids were pitchers -- in both MLB and it's minor affiliates. So when people talk about the respective value of Barry Bonds' likely steroid-aided home runs, does anyone stop to consider how many of those HRs were hit off just-as-likely "juiced" fastballs?

Any ideas there, Roger?

Yeah, but all that gets invalidated when you throw in a bunch of players from that era that never tested dirty, a'la Ken Griffey Jr.

So we have a bunch of standouts on the juice playing against people who were just as talented, but never tested dirty. Donnie Baseball, Piazza, Pedro etc..
