In your opinion, what is the best food to eat when you're having a garden-variety beer?

personally, I prefer wasabi peas

Depends on my mood, but I vote ribs or perhaps pizza. More beer is a meal in itself and not so much of a snack.

Cheese toastie. Don't get too fancy. Two slices of bread, bit of butter, plenty of cheese (till it's dripping out the side)

Optional (but highly recommended): Pepper, plenty of tabasco, maybe a bit of HP sauce or Lea & Perrins.

MMM.

I vote for calamari, just because it proves you can fry ANYTHING and it turns out good.

I voted chips before I saw the more beer option. But I'll go with both of them. The best thing after a heavy night of drinking is still a good steak, though.

calamari is actually better unfried with garlic, celery, and onions, in a salad with some olive oil. mayhem will vouch for this i'm sure

Popcorn is great too. Maybe the greatest. And it soaks up the drink.

Sambal Ikan Teri Kacang.

Tiny (1 cm) dried fish mixed with hot chili paste and lime juice with roasted peanuts.

It is great, but I got a case of the gout once from eating it too frequently a few years back.

Still worth the pain, and in moderation, not dangerous.

Cheers!
