I make the driest mac salad in the world. It's partly because I don't really like mayo. I've grown to love my dry as hell mac salad but whenever other people eat it I get strange looks. I've been told putting the cooked macaroni in a bowl of cold water in the fridge for a few hours prior to draining and adding the other ingredients helps but I've yet to try this myself.

Sour cream or maybe even ranch dressing are good substitutes for mayo. I'm with ya... I don't like a mayonnaise overload. It's greasy. Sour cream I do in mac salad type pastas and potato salads for that matter and it turns out pretty good and creamy.

We really do need to have a drunkard cookbook compilation.

Generic "what's left before hitting the grocery store"-soup. This time it was some pork, potatoes (sweet ones too), carrots, dried kale, chili, onions (ze red ones) and healthy amount of curry and cayenne pepper. Thought about grilling today, but it randomly started raining.
I would tear both of those concoctions up fo' sho.

I made a creamy chicken mushroom casserole with stuffing on top for crispiness. Every day is a casserole day in the oettinger household! Huzzah!

I'm picking up some Chinese food from Kowloon Kitchen. The place has been around for at least 50 years and the same people have been running the place for the entire time. They don't age at all. Also, their english has never improved. I'm not even sure what the fuck I just ordered. When the old lady yelled my order to the people in the kitchen, it sounded like "BABY CRAYONS CA CA!"

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a drunk man tortilla chips, Velveeta and a hair dryer and he has nachos.

^ ^ ^ There was a place I always went to that was the same when I would try to call the order in.

Me - Can I please order one chicken katsu?
Asian lady with strong accent - Okay. One shrimp tempura for you.
Me - No, one chicken katsu, please.
ALWSA - One shrimp tempura. Okay, got it.

No matter what I ordered it always sounded like shrimp tempura. Amazing though I would finally get through and get the correct order. Worst case scenario I end up with shrimp tempura and definitely no complaints there either.

Baked steak ciabatta sandwiches. Fried tomato, chilli, onion, beef slices. Remoulade sauce and cheese topping. Dipping it in spicy beef broth.

^ Fancy bastard.

Got a breakfast burrito from Sonic. They're actually pretty good.

Anyways, it was just to get something in my stomach before the day's drinking.

Made buttermilk biscuits and bacon this morning. Came out pretty awesome. Got a big pot of soup beans on the stove for later. Real fancy stuff over here.

^ ^ ^ Bean salad is always good. I like scooping it with tortilla chips and if I'm feeling really motivated, making it Mexican style by throwing in some corn, avocado, tomato and what not if I have that laying around. I think that would be considered healthy?

I had a black n' bleu salad. Leftover steak in salad greens with an Italian dressing, tomatoes, red onions, and Gorgonzola crumbles. Stupendous!

Here in the states, specifically California, we take fresh produce for granted. Hell, strawberries, avacados, melons, peppers... anything is dirt cheap and readily available. What's it like there? Can you get frrsh produce like we have here? How do the prices compare? Is there anthing you can't find that you really want?

If I had cut up the green and yellow beans smaller it could probably serve as a dip. I usually have it on top of spinach. It's definetly healthier than the rest of supper which will most likely be cooked in bacon grease.

Here in upstate NY it's like berry season is over and done in no time.

Compared to where I came from...everything here is dirt ass cheap. Many fruits and veggies we get from the garden which is awesome. We had green beans, zucchini, onions, different sorts of leafy greens, not to mention apples, plums, and assorted berries.

There are about 1 trillion things I can't find that I really want in general. But as far as produce goes...can't find any hot peppers of any kind really, so I grow my own.

And of course I miss all the tropical fruits I once had access to. Papaya for one.
