Garlic stuffed olives...
....are in my mind, the great martini garnish ever developed. They're a tasty snack on their own....soaked in gin, no finer bite sized drunkard snack exists, in my book. If you haven't tried them, I urge you, as an officer and a gentleman, to add them to your bar.

I'd love to have a martini right now. Between the fridge dying, the bill to repair it, the thought I might lose quite a bit of meat, Small Fry's sleepover and the fact that I woke at 0630 on a Saturday thinking it was still a work day.... I need a stiff drink with fantastic garnishes! Have you tried them stuffed sun dried tomatoes?

Re: Garlic stuffed olives...
I've yet to try them....but next time I shop for some of the finer foodstuffs, I'll put them on my list to get.
The fridge situation must be rough.....when I get to thinking about the things that I really use, I cannot help but conclude that refridgeration is the finest technology man has developed to date....

Blue cheese is good.....I'm not really a fan of the pepper stuffed olives in everything, but in some gins they work very well. Also with potato vodka....slushfund wrote:Garlic stuffed is ok, but there's also:

Go to Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, etc and get a plastic bottle that has a fine spray top (ie tube style perfume carrier). Fill with vermouth, keep it in the fridge. When you make your martini, chill glass in freezer while you're getting the shaker/mixer all ready with your gin (or gawd forbid vodka) and ice. Two sprays of vermouth in the chilled glass should do ya and then put your gin in. It should be just right for the extra dry kind. I got a buddy that likes to have it float on top but you get the idea - play with it! Cheers!calx wrote:i'm going to get vermouth and make martinis for the first time in years this weekend. and bloody mary ingredients. i gotta start drinking more varied stuff. garlic stuffed olives are the best!

Re: Garlic stuffed olives...
I have two of those on a toothpick in my Bloody Hillbilly* right now. Highly recommended.
On a side note: I am ludicrously proud of this Bloody Mary mix. I added freshly squeezed tomato juice to some organic tomato juice from the natural foods store. Freshly grated horseradish, bottled creamy horseradish, and lemon zest. Fresh lemon and lime juices. Garlic powder, celery and onion salts, Lea & Perrins, bitters, Cholula hot sauce, freshly ground black pepper. I don't know if I should drink it or fuck it. The sweet heat plays off really well against the caramel in the Knob Creek.
Garnished with spicy pickled okra and garlic stuffed olives. Making my housework much more palatable.
* I figure it can't be a Bloody Highlander if the whiskey is from Kentucky, right?
