That was gonna be my contrabution. When moving last summer I found a liter bottle sealed in a cardboard box with about half a pint left in it. Guess I'd wanted to save it for later.lanternchikk wrote:*is surprised no one has yet mentioned Vat69*

back again...
Best single malt so far for the money:
Finlaggan
Islay single malt
$16.99/750, Trader Joe's (again)
TJ's still has the best cheap ($9.99/liter) blended Scotch.

I saw that today, as well as 12 and 18 year old Trader Joe's label. I was curious if anyone had tried them.absurdist wrote:

The blend is good?

The Finlaggan is real good... comparable to Laphroaig 10 year old at about half the price. Haven't tried any of the others as TJs doesn't have an Islay in their house brands. Yet. :)

I thought the 18 was an Islay. Maybe it was a Speyside. I"ll go check at lunch if I make it outside.absurdist wrote:The blend is real good... think Famous Grouse.Aarkwilde wrote:I saw that today, as well as 12 and 18 year old Trader Joe's label. At $10 I'll pick up the blend and give it a try. They were charging $19 for the 12 and $39 for the 18. If they're respectable I may convert to their house brand. MacAllan is $37 for the 12 and it goes too damn fast.
