Sounds like something that could unite the White Russian and the Brandy Alexander.

"If it wasn't Allen's, it would be something," said Steele, the emergency-room physician, who is also chief medical officer for a regional hospital chain. "Alcohol itself is the problem."
No, alcohol is the answer. Sigh.

Never heard of it, so it can't be much to get worked up about.

***EDIT***

OK, I went and checked out the article. I have seen that stuff for sale, but have never seen anyone buy it, drink it, or offer it to me or anyone I know.

60 proof ? May as well stick with Moxie.

To me, it tastes like someone brewed a pot of coffee using some crappy brandy instead of water...it will get you fucked up for relatively cheap though - $11.99 for a liter, $19.99 for a half-gallon.

Mixed with milk, most people call it either a "Deer Isle Martini", "Liquid Leg Spreader", "Liquid Panty Remover", or the ubiquitous "Slutjuice". Also, some people refer to it as "The Bloom of the Tundra", because when the snow melts, previously covered piles of Allen's bottles tend to appear in people's dooryards...

And since I'm the new guy, what's everyone having?

Chief, between the avatar and the knowledge, let me get you one. But since you're buying me one, I'll take a triple Beam Black. For medicinal purposes.

Eh, the knowledge just comes from having grown up around the stuff...but if you're buying too, I'll take a 7&7.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume you're being sarcastic...no matter though, we're used to it and we could give two shits.

Out of staters joke about our drinking habits up here, and while it's true that we drink our fair share, we don't see it as any laughing matter...it's just one of the realities of living in a scenic but economically barren place.

That's why I like reading these boards...it's nice to see some others who take drinking seriously, not a bunch of do-gooder nanny types who freak the fuck out when you drink more than their view of normal...

Sorry if I'm rambling, but I'm half in the bag as I'm typing this. Not out of the norm of half of the other posts I've read here...

Weird...everyone I know in New Hampshire says that the stores only carry coffee brandy for Mainers making the trip through the state...good to know we're not the only ones who drink it though.

And oddly enough, I've only seen blackberry brandy for sale in maybe 2-3 places that I can remember here in Maine...probably takes up space better served by coffee brandy around these parts, who knows.
