I dunno, I got back from the bar and everyone else is doing damn booze reviews, so here goes:
Highwood Centennial Rye Whiskey (10 yrs)
26 oz, about $24, 80 proof
The absurdly classy bottle is a pretty apt container, given the drink to follow. Vastly superior to any other Canadian whiskey I've ever had. The two predominant flavours are spice and, oddly enough, a pronounced sourness. They say that the blend consists entirely of wheat and rye grain, and I suppose that matches up pretty well with the general taste.
Words can't do this stuff justice. I absolutely love it. Plus I made my girlfriend try it side-by-side with Highland Park 18yo, which runs $100/26er in some parts, and she preferred this. What more is there to say, really?
Oh yeah, fuck Crown Royal and Canadian blended whiskey.
