The West Cork Bog Oak is heftily-bodied for an Irish whiskey. Really weak on the nose.
Mouthful is subtlety smokey and fruity. Some sherry-like sweetness.
This is a nice whiskey, but a bit unbalanced.

The local Irish pub that I have previously posted about is closing this Monday.
No more pints of Guinness while listening to Flogging Molly. No more adventures into new Irish whiskies before work.
RIP.

Re: Please define "Irish pub"
Why is this even a thread? In Ireland, they're just called pubs. "Irish Pubs" in the US and other places are just "Irish Style Pubs".
A true Irish pub is really just a place where I can get drunk and punch someone in the mouth if they need a good mouth punching.
Fuck.

Has anyone else noticed most Irish bars are run by Australians? Maybe the Irish are too busy running Aussie bars. Who knows? Not I Rabbi!

I'll take it either way. At least they speak English. Meanwhile the nearby English pub (supposedly geared towards English speaking ex-pats) was filled with nothing but German speakers. It was super disappointing as I was hoping to seek out at least ONE watering hole that wasn't a German sausage fest.TheDrunkardAnglo wrote: ↑Tue Oct 27, 2020 9:42 amHas anyone else noticed most Irish bars are run by Australians? But the last time I was there I was wearing an Irish soccer shirt and the bartender brought us over a round of Guinesses- assuming I was from Ireland I guess and "welcomed" me in English. Problem was, whoever placed the order for the first round didn't order Guiness but we slugged them anyway.
Okole maluna!
