I've had to keep this under my hat for a week or so now but the show has been finalized. The Surreal McCoys featuring one of our own, Surreal, will be playing the pearl Street Warehouse in DC the end of May. This is not a spam for them this is a call to all local and semi local Drunkards for a possibly epic Drunkard gathering. I know I'm going. Gonna find a semi decent hotel close to the metro. There is a metro stop 5 minutes from the venue. Bubblez is already a maybe and there is noise that others may make the trip.
So what say you? Gonna make it to DC and get hammered with these cats?

I already got the wife and I a place to stay with our timeshare points at the Wyndham National Harbor just a tick down the road from the venue. Wed thru Fri night. So maybe a whisky bar or some such the nights prior to the show. Maybe a good steak joint. I wonder what Wondrich recommends in DC?

Navy Strength Rum?
This looks pretty damned cool (from the site) :
"Interactive Flight Simulators:
Climb aboard and try your skills at air-to-air combat in numerous historic aircraft, including the Sopwith Camel, P-51 Mustang, F-4 Phantom II, F-16 Fighting Falcon..."
Snoopy flew a Sopwith Camel methinks...

Looks like I'll be picking up Screwball from BWI and playing Uber for him on the way down and back for his flight out. This may turn into an event. # Drunkards confirmed. One is even in the band!

Ok. Screwball couldn't make the trip out because, and I quote, "New job has me busier than an old one tooth, one leg, one armed, one eyed prostitute looking for a John at a woman's rights convention."
That my fine drunks is fucking busy.
However the night was still enjoyable and much frivolities were had. Booze was consumed. Music and merriment were in abundant supply!
Now for the pic dump.
The calm before the storm.
The storm gathers. Surreal and Patchez meet for the first time.
The first drops appear with the openers a Stones cover band that was pretty tight.
The first crash of thunder and lightning set off the storm with the Glenmont Popes. Described by Surreal as rockabilly. They were the most ferocious thing I've heard in some time.

Then the McCoys came out. They blew the roof off that mother fucker! Rambling and raising hell through the Bottle and the Gun, Whole Lotta Folsom and a kick dick version of Country Roads that nearly brought the venue to complete ruin. Those were the only songs I can hazily recall. If you ever have a chance to see the cats live do it. You will not be sorry.
And the night winds down. Patchez, Surreal and Mrs. Patchez

And the cat could hammer the plank. Straigth spankin' it or subtle, driving rythm. He was killing it. They all were. For as much booze as they put away before and during the set.scream ale wrote: ↑Sun Jun 09, 2019 4:37 pmThat guitar the bass player for the Surreal McCoys has is fuckin' siiiiick!

Re: Washington, DC. May 31. Surreal McCoys play!
I’ve had the pleasure of drinking w/some of the finest folks on the planet b/c of this forum - Screwball, Gin McG, The Geese, Tony Mayhem, Thirsty Drunk, El Boozificator, NY Dingbat, Bluespook, Resident Asshole, Ivan, Smatter Noguts, and others. I can now add Mr and Mrs Patchez to the list. They made the trek all the way to DC to see some middle-aged drunks tie one on and tear one up.
I sure enjoyed meeting Patchez and knocking back a few double Jamesons with him before the show. It was quite an evening. And Screwball was missed. That S.O.B. was aces last time we played SXSW in Austin. Some say he is some kinda fire suppression systems wizard. I think they got it wrong. He’s the best not-so-undrunk roadie we’ve ever met.
That version of Take Me Home Country Roads - we stole from Jason and the Scorchers. Warner Hodges is a beast on guitar.
