F*cking TV finally died!

Post by onthekeg »

Now WTF should I do??? I have been praying for this day for the 13 friggin years the piece was running and I just didn't want it to end this way. It was giving me some sh&t and I couldn't take it anymore. No electronics were injured in the events that transpired, although my beloved Vikings didn't fare as well. Please help me with my conundrum I have guests coming on Thurs and Sat this week and now the damn thing gives up the ghost.
Its a console 32" that is older than dirt, but I wanted to get something newer about Christmas time. Now I also may have to buy a stinkin entertainment center to hid the satellite box, DVD player and sound system that was housed within.

Oh me oh friggin my- shit happens for reasons, but this really sucks. I can see Best Buy from my hotel room.. Curse you RCA why couldn't you give me one more week!

What's wrong with it? if you're not afraid of a little death by electrocution maybe you can fix it.

Plasma is the shit. I have an unhealthy relationship with mine. Porn and football have never looked better.

Thanks for the tips folks,
I haven't bought one yet because I keep watching the prices go down. I don't want to spend more than a grand on it and as I wait they keep getting larger and better for the same money. I know I have to bite the bullet, but its too hard to do it.

The TV has no sound or picture, and when I took the back off of it there is light in the rear of the tube. I think it is something with the circuit board anyways I am sick of it. I took the TV out of the bedroom so far but now I have to watch a tiny 13" model in the bedroom. sucks for skinemax at night.

I've turned off the cable several months ago and use it only for DVDs...never felt better, I had about 100 channels and sometimes I couldn't find eve ONE interesting enough... I suppose it isn't much different in the US, so - follow my manner -you'll get much more time for reading, going out with friends, and drinking, of course. If there is a football match - go to the nearest bar and watch it, that's what I do and meet many new friends that way...

Greetings from wintery Bulgaria, where beer costs not much than 0,35$ a 500ml bottle, and its really good, believe me
well, that's in the local store, of course
2 beer or not 2 beer - that is an easy question!

Our tv croaked not long ago, and we went to Best Buy discount store and bought a 32" analog CRT for under $200. It works fine I don't care if I can't see the sweat dripping off a player and it's guaranteed till the time when the country has to go digital.

Anyhow, new guy buys a round. I'll have a pint of your best Bulgarian. Welcome aboard!

Avoid the LCD if you are into sports. I guess plasma has some limitations too as far as keeping up with screen movements but damn they are getting cheap. Between now and the super bowl is the best time to buy TV's and if the store has a good price protection plan, then you can save money there too.
