Did the cigarette thing for 14 years. Finally quit, and I really don't miss it.

After all, when you're not plunking down cash for a pack of cigs every day, you feel more justified in plunking down cash for a nice cigar on a smoking occasion.

i smoke and hate every second of it.
Damn, I couldn't imagine that. Whenever someone asks me why I don't quit, I tell them it's because I like it too much.
yeah i rarely enjoy a cigarette, but i also have no willpower so i keep smoking them, especially if i am around someone who smokes then i am like a chimney. maybe i'm doing wrong. i should get with someone who hates cigarettes. what do you love about smoking, besides how cool it makes you look?

Me personally, because the way the stimulant nicotine reacts with the depressant alcohol to produce a beautiful calm oasis in me for one. Secondly, because I like the breaks it gives you during the day that those non-smokers just don't get. Thirdly, it just kinda makes me feel good. I also love the ritual involved. Next, it gives my hyperactive hands something to do. I also like the fatc that I'm very sporty and can still run for longer than almost all of the non-smokers I know. Petty I know, but I'm a smug bitch. It also makes me look so fucking cool that I'm only just tolerated by my geeky friends.

I didn't say I love it, just like it, a lot. I think Lolly hit the nail on the head about the enjoyment factor, couldn't have said it better myself, brilliant. And finally, I seriously doubt I could look cool even if they put my brain in Fonzie's body and staged a spear fight with Boba Fett in an exploding volcano.
Jesus! You think Eddie Money has to put up with this shit?!

My buddy has a daughter, about 5 years old. She asked me once when I was going to quit. I just looked at her and said, "what makes you think I want to quit?" She got this puzzled look on her face. I swear, the concept was alien to her. Everybody wants to quit and nobody can. At least that's how she saw it. She simply couldn't grasp that some things people do are for the sheer enjoyment of it. This was years ago though, and I am going to quit here pretty soon. I just found it funny that she couldn't wrap her brain around the concept that not everybody is in that "pity me, I can't help myself" camp.

I smoke.

I started smoking at age 31.
Yes, I should have known better by then, but there you have it.

And I don't just smoke the "normal" cigarette's but those evil bloody lung inducing clove (kretek) smokes.

I have one clutched in my mouth as type type this down...

The last one of the night, so it isn't lit yet, but there you have it.

I love the flavor, the feeling, and in company, the comeradrie of smoking. Here in Indonesia, people are not yet enlightened to the facts of the dangers of smoking (there are enough other factors that shorten peoples lives here like malaria, dengue fever, encephalitis, AIDS, etc).
It is part of socializing amongst men and some women (mostly older or brazenly slutty). I hang with all kinds.

I would never smoke in your house, or in your car, unless you were lighting up as well. I know the dangers. It can be said to be "stupid", but this is a Drunkards board so I don't expect too many health fanatics to pounce on me here without exposing themselves as being just a wee bit hypocritical.

I try to find a balance by working out regularly (since this past January I've lost 26 lbs.), eating a mostly vegetarian diet (this is due to my personal health issues and is not a moral stance), and resuming the yoga / zen regime that I practiced from the age of 19 until 33. I broke with that regime because I was turned off by the judgemental attitudes of some people involved in those practices, and that was my mistake and my loss. Other's attitudes are really none of our business.

So anyway, I smoke and drink, but also try to live a balanced life.

I am happy (unless awakened too early!).

No one lives forever, nor should one wish to.

We should try to find a way to be happy and satisfied in this life, without hurting other people (don't smoke where it's not ok, etc...)

Sorry if this seems a rant.

It's the Whisky, Dammit!

Cheers, Peace and Love!

Looking at the mighty archives of this singular website:
MDM forum.

Well met, solid discovery, great discussion. Here's my two butts:

Always enjoyed the taste, the added buzz to a good beer time.
Forced to quit: high BP.
Choice? Cigs or bacon.

But I made the promise that I would never disparage any one else at all from their own enjoyment of smoking cigarettes. And i think that vapes are for wusses.

I still like the scent of smoke exhaled from a woman with alcohol breath.

I may ask for hit off a lady outside a pub. Never ask a dude. On that note, never bump cherries to get your own going. Use a lighter like a man.

However, when I drunkenly light up a fresh one, it doesn't taste as good as before I had to quit.

Maybe that's a good thing for me.
