Which countries have you travelled to

Post by oettinger »

Just curious, where have you already been and might recommend or want to premonish of?

I myself have been dragged around the world by my parents since I was a little child. That fact and my tight pocket (and google pic search) might have led to my reluctance to go places for years now.
But places I would strongly advise you to go to if you still can`t decide and your local travel agency is spewing out their seasonal masstourism garbage:

Island of Rhodes, feeding the hordes of street cats. Great climate, not to hot, never cold.

Madagascar, really this country is something different (and I say that having been to northern and central africa before).
We were staying mostly in the south, cause masstourism began polluting the north back then in 97 already. Lemures are just great creatures. On one of our inland flights we got served real pizza just taken out of the oven before takeoff in an old propeller aircraft, not that nasty plastic food. Gosh I hate food on planes...
If you don`t like cockroaches, don`t put on the lights after sunset though.
One time I ordered apple juice (I was 13 at the time) and recieved a 2 litre bottle of apple flavored beer! Another time we were headed to some sacred Adansonia digitata tree and to visit it you had to bring a present in the form of a bottle of extra strong white rum. Then the local master of ceremony took two gulps of it and spewed them on the tree to ask for entrance. That was it. The rest of the bottle was presumably consumed that afternoon without a drop reaching the trees root ever again.

Malta, tiny but really sweet. Hot women. Deeply catholic though. Too bad they got rid of their ancient bedford busses in recent years

Have been to shitloads of other countries but these three stand out. It`s a miracle that I didn`t die in a plane crash during my younger years. Oh and try turkey, who said muslims don`t drink?

Foreign countries, to Amerikans, in chronological order of travel: Canada, Germany, Austria & Ireland.
I have been all over these United States, in automobiles, motorcoaches and aeroplanes.

All over the United States, still haven't visited all the highlights. Outside the U.S., Bermuda.

Wow that is really kinda sad. I haven't even been to Canada yet. Christ I need to fucking travel.

edit* The Bahamas.

Never left the continent.

Mexico, Canadia, and, of course, 50 of the Tribes and 17 of the states in this place we now know as "Murrica."

But the lands of Ire and Scot, the folks of Deutschland, France and Suomi beckon this tribal canoeist.

Most of the U.S., both ends of Canada, parts of Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, all over Ireland and Edinburgh, Scotland.

Scotland was awesome. Canada is pretty cool too.

Scotland was cool indeed. Was only five though, no drink... oh and a dog did bite me in the ear. On the isle of skye it was I think.

Edit: And they put vinegar on my fried chicken. Looks yummy, tastes shitty

Maybe it was chicken of the sea and malt vinegar? with chips

That is very tasty at a bar. What is up with sour things at crusty old bars? Besides me that is

Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes.

We're going to have to put some outriggers on my 16' Chippie birch bark, but I think if we make a stop around Iceland we'll be alright.

Europe is an absolutely incredible place to spend several months wandering wherever the magnet of drinking culture happens to pull you. I wish I would have had more time to spend slacking around all the little Greek islands in the Aegean. Polska I have not been to yet, but hear great things about.

Try the coastline, pomorskie region is great. When you are there try the rest of the baltic countries. Lots of ferrys will carry you around.
That`s the great thing about europe, everything is within a stone`s throw reach.

Question though: Has anyone of you fellow drunkards ever been to Tahiti or stuff like that? I don`t exactly know what entices me about that place (or french polynesia in general). It might be because it`s literally located on the opposite side of this goofball earth, or it`s remoteness. Does it even have tiki culture, or is that made up shit for tourists?
Speaking of tourists, is it possible that these adorable islands are infected with stupidly rich westerners who pollute the once nice atmosphere with their stupid demands?

A lot. Been drunk in all of them, at some point, and have always made a point of pissing in the major rivers.

So, which major rivers have you pissed in?

As we talk, what they call the rhine is the case of beer that I`m saying good bye to. Knowing that the Queen Mary 2 is able to ride on your piss is nothing short of an understatement.
Other than that? Hmm, I peed in a lot of oceans (mediterranean, indian, atlantic, pacific, european northern- and estern-sea). You should really reconsider eating that fishproduct. And lots of swimming-pools
