What have been your most cringeworthy hangover moments ?

Post by BDuncan »

While it's important to drink responsibly, sometimes that doesn't always happen, so
in those cases when it hasn't, what have so far been your own most cringe-worthy
(serious or humorous) hangover moments you've had (compared to more average
experiences) and please briefly elaborate ?

When I had to semi-coherently explain to a hotel manager and one of the promoters of the 1987 Winnipeg Folk Festival why two of the hotel's upright pianos, which went missing the night before, causing more than a bit of concern, were later found by the maids to be in the room I was sharing with another piano player on the 9th floor and how on earth did we managed to get them up there (we turned them on end and took them up one at a time so we could jam when we wanted to without being interrupted).

I've woken up in the morning next to some severely unattractive women in my past.

Clearly you are somebody spelunking for tales for an article or whatnot. Would've been genuine and y'know, ethical for you to say up front where these tales would wind up. Mother of pearl. You did everything but ask us to relate said tales in 250 words or less.

I say to you, piss off, schmuck. Go out and be a man and create your own moments or be honest about asking those of us here for ours.

i disagree. let's hold this guy to his word and make him testify to his most 'cringe-worthy' drunken bouts. If he's man enough, that is.

1. Falling down whilst pissing in the snow and promptly passing out, dick in hand. Was rescued by a guy that said 'dude, you should really get up. you've got your dick in your hand and your jeans around your ankles'. i think that guy saved my life.

2. Climbing over an 8-ft. high fence at a rehab facility (escape intended) and running toward a nearby hotel, only to slip in Canadian goose shit and partially submerge myself in a retaining pond. Made it out, the bar proprietors (and ensuing sheriffs) were not amused.

3. Arriving home after a prom-thing, falling out of the limo, puking on my dad's lawn, and then then sleeping in it.

4. Staggering home from the local and falling asleep on my front lawn. in August. it was a hot damn day when i woke up.

5. getting trapped in a tent somewhere in Illinois and having to cut my way out with a hunting knife. that was actually kind of fun, though.

i could go on, but i think i've made my point. now poster, you give us your best 'cringe-worthy' drunken bout.
why is my moral compass always pointed east? that's the direction of the nearest liquor store.

Peetie, don't pianos have to be tuned after you move them. My mother use to tell my father this whenever he wanted to move the upright away from the TV room.

And I don't have any cringe-worthy moments.... they've been erased from my memory.

Is that how you got your nick? From the goose shit and the grey, murky pond you fell into? Did it turn you into a superhero, or possibly a supervillain? It kinda sounds like Nicholsons transformation into the Joker. "The grey goose"!

Not to disparage your mother, but that's an old-wive's tale.

Gently moving most pianos a few feet won't throw them out of tune unless the tuning-pin block (where the tuning pins are located) is funky; in which case just playing them throws them out of tune. And in many cases you can move a piano in and out of a building without much change. For professional applications, however, they should always be tuned if they're moved any great distance. Temperature and humidity changes are more critical to a piano's tuning than a properly executed move. In the case of my post, we tipped the mentioned pianos up on one end and took them up an elevator one at a time. DO NOT try this yourself, unless you really know what you're doing or are extremely drunk. Luckily, we had both of these conditions on our side.

DTs in front of family members.

Never, never get caught out in the wilderness without enough booze. What may seem enough (or even an excess) upon setting out on an adventure almost always ends up short.
The cabin sits shut-down, cold-frozen and empty, dead mice in the traps, waiting for me to drink alone there in the dark.

2H: concur on the "too much is never enough".

btw: I picked up a new cribbage board from The Paradise Bar. Next time I come north to visit you and DH, we'll have to christen her properly. I think the christening process involves Castillo, walleye, cranky necked ducks and a pack of Pall Malls.

Trying to eat breakfast and still smelling her 'natural aroma' on my fingers every time I lifted the fork to my mouth. Even after having a shower and scrubbing THOROUGHLY.
