i've had some of their "moonshine". i think it's pretty bland and way over priced. come to my neck of the woods and i'll get you a gallon of of the real stuff for $40-$50, good corn whiskey not that bullshit sugar liquor people pass off as moonshine.

Personally, when it comes to drinking moonshine, I'll stick with the homemade, untaxed and illegal, real McCoy.

I got a few bottles of Peidmont Distillers moonshine while I was in North Carolina. Their Catdaddy was good, but had a spiced rum flavor, the apple pie and cherry flavored moonshines were great, but just their strait moonshine tasted terrible.

several TN distilleries now are making moonshine, with more to come. I'll still stick with the family stash, but as Papaw has been dead for nearly 20 years, his last jars are becoming more like collectors items and pieces of family history than potential beverages.

The longest I've ever had a bottle of booze was def a mason jar of moonshine. That fucker lasted a solid 9 months in my liquor cabinet; twas awful. Had to share with some whiskey-drinking friends too. Just couldn't get rid of that fucker.

Ever other liter of whiskey I buy goes down in 2 days... the fifth of moonshine lasted 9 months... think about it.

Legal moonshine isn't moonshine; it's just really bad whiskey.

I dunno, I've debated that with myself. On the one hand "moonshine" implies something illegal done by moonlight out of sight, on the other hand most modern moonshiners aren't doing a damned thing on principal, their just too damned cheap to pay the taxes.

I think once the prohibition/pre-prohibition fad wears out they just need to call it "Unaged Southern Whiskey" or something less debatable. I like some of it.

Personally I've had 3 homemade shines and the best one I had was made by a member of the board and his stuff is sugar based. He said it gives the cleanest taste and after trying them all I believe him.

Where is Bluespook these days?

The distilling experiments I've been involved with resulted in a industrial flavored Everclear-type end product; I'm thinking the cost of production and time rendered them pointless, and dangerous.
