Was This a Smooth Move?

Post by OtisCampbell »

At "my local liquor store," which is mega-big-and-busy, I see the same comely lady at the checkout each visit. She most often comments that she likes a flavored version of the vodka I purchase. So, I purchased the base version and her "New Coke" version tonight. She, of course, mentioned how much she enjoys the flavored version, not remembering that I have heard that from her before. I then gave the New Coke version to her for Christmas, no matter what her religion may have been. I am not Christian, but I love Xmas (irony). The whole episode confused her and no progress towards nastiness was achieved.

But, was this a smooth move??? Was this the liquor store version of buying a barmaid a cocktail?

I am drunk, so my main objective has been achieved. I am happy. But, damn, lady: Say thanks and enjoy the season.

Doesn't sound like it went well... but dude if the place is busy she must have been a bit shy/embarrassed and had to keep working.
Still, someone gives me a bottle of vodka for free in ANY environment I would definitely thank them.
But no, not smooth.

Cool.

I will definitely refine the procedure. Perhaps seek better targets.

Furthermore, if anyone ever gave me a bottle of liquor, I would have handled it differently. Joy would have been involved, for example.

But, whatever.

Can you go when it's not so busy? Traffic has a lot to do with it. She's trying to keep a job. Do that and buy your other brand and ask her how she enjoyed what you gave her.

Your goal is to get laid and get free liquor. Now get to it!

How is she on the eyes? Are you looking for a drinking buddy or a wife?

Perhaps she "says that to all the boys". In other words, it's marketing - maybe she's not hinting that you two should gaze lustily at each other whilst the light from a roaring fire frolics in a glass of her favored flavored version of your voddie, she's merely trying to get you to purchase another bottle in that flavor for yourself or a friend, but not for her, in order to boost sales. Hence her confusion when you presented her with it. No excusing her lack of gratitude whether that's the case or not. The unpolished lass should've thanked you. I submit that it is she who should be wondering if her move was smooth.

Guess you won't be dipping your ladle in that gravy.

Well, personally, I like people when they give me booze. But that doesn't mean I'm going to be swapping spit in the shower with them any time soon

Smooth move, no. Lack of gratitude, definitely. Try a different check-out queue or liquor store, in future.

don't worry, christmas isn't a christian holiday.

i think it was a cool move. bold, certainly. didn't work, sure, but even the best moves don't work unless she's into you already. just be cool if you see her again; don't expect anything other than decent service. worst case, she has a story to tell her girlfriends. best case, she thinks of you when she drinks it, in a good way.
