Re: What are you reading?
I took the Hobbit w/ me on vacation. Call me a dork. It's a great read every time.
I also read "The Billionaire's Vinegar" by Benjamin Wallace. It is the true story of a bottle of 1787 Chateau Lafite Bordeaux that was reported to have been owned at one time by Thomas Jefferson. It sold for $156K at an auction. It is the back story on the bottle's legitimacy, the characters that were involved in it's discovery from it's tomb in a hidden Paris cellar, and what was believed to be an elaborate con of the highest order.
Great read.

I recently finished Gone With the Wind. Now I'm craving a non-fiction tome about Reconstruction, but I've settled for the Reconstruction Wiki page.
Savage, you should definitely self-publish! Or Kickstarter. There's so many ways to get your wares to market these days.

If this doesn't make you take a drink, nothing will. This is the American History of the last hundred years you never learned in school.

Found myself in the Matrix and took the red pill. Now I want the blue pill and my bottle and leave me alone.

Strange, this thread must be newer. I'm re-reading watchmen in paper form. It's sexy as fuck.

Up The Walls Of The World by James Tiptree, Jr./Alice Sheldon
The man who intoxicates himself on bad whisky is sometimes moved to kill his wife and set his house on fire, but the victim of applejack is capable of blowing up a whole town with dynamite and of reciting original poetry to every surviving inhabitant.

Re: What are you reading?
I just expunged our library (it took a freaking week) as the books on three floors (and the various floors) were beginning to take over the place. So, all of a sudden, people want to borrow books that I waved bye-bye to. Well, I tell them, you will always have Amazon. I mean, where, in my wildest imaginations, would I have thought that one of my sweet little daughters would have wanted "Cooking with a Serial Killer." I would have kept the slim paperback, if the story had been interesting, or the food had been somewhat near edible, but...no. Dear God. No.
Oh, what am I reading? Harriet the Spy. Yes, yes, I read it when I was but a tiny little savage, but now, as a grandma, I get so much more out of it. Or so I tell myself. I wish that I had been able to hide in a dumbwaiter and spy on people. I wish that I had an Ole Golly.
