So Why Not Wednesday?

Post by NYDingbat »

Not for nothin' - Monday's got the drink to drown the drudgery of returning to the work week. Tuesday needs to just shut up. Thursday has got all its "Thirsty Thursday" "It's Almost The Weekend" business, what the hell about Wednesday? It's supposed to be happy with just "Hump Day"? Not on this damned board. Can we expect people to be honest about how much actual humping goes on in honor of Wednesday? I think not. No, I know not.

Thursday, and Sunday for that matter, can verify their places in the Drunkard Calendar by the stilted, painful motions and thoughts of employees everywhere on Friday and Monday. It's a universal truth.

Wednesday has a real opportunity here to achieve the same notoriety of a drinking night, but if it keeps its mouth shut and allows its participants to revel without the Town Crier shouting about it, it could allow itself some regulars who could blame bangin' in on Thursday to actual illness instead of a hangover. No one expects the Thursday hangover!

To be honest, I have never cared what day of the week it might be; drinking just seems to happen.

My wife is fond of Wine Wednesday, my local back in DC did White Russian and Whiskey Sour Wednesday. But I'm with the Dr., any day and everyday. Currently partaking of a sixer of Mich Amber for an afternoon snack.

Sadly this week and week-end are going to be dry again.

My friend got a bible with no-go cross over it on his door. The text reads after that "studying to be an engineer".

Works wonders I hear.

Wine Wednesdays are pretty popular here as well, there are a few joints around here that have tastings every Wednesday, I've only hit one so far, they were running a "10 bucks, all you can drink" tasting. Unfortunately, the tasting is only two hours long, so... between the talk and history - it's hard to actually get anywhere. The Wine tasted fine though.
BMMS is wrong.

Have you tried that Old West favorite: "Leave the bottle"?

I wish, but the Polos and Bentleys crowd doesn't speak such a glorious language.
