Drinking to the fact that quality wine is so incredibly affordable here.

I was drinking to keep the party up 'till I couldn't stand last night, yet I stumbled home more or less intact.
Today it shall be mostly to keep shakes away.

Edit: Generally drinking to life, 's good.

Get in! Your mind will be removed from Moyes for a while no doubt! Congratulations!

My drinks for tonight are going to the Clutha and all who were inside.

Indeed.

A glass with solemn prayers are raised for those in Glasgow who have passed on, and to their families who suffer great loss, and to all who have healing ahead there in Almighty Scotland, from an honest injun in Maine, USA.

We are all Scots with you now.

Cheap bourbon.

EDIT: I usually start off with a good single barrel, but after the tongue is burnt, I switch to the cheap stuff.

Symbiotic bacteria or parasites*?

* Great story: Back when the Salvation Army were really banging the prohibition drum (around the turn of the 19th to 20th century), supposedly a group of S.A. battlaxes walked into a Glasgow bar. To the surprise of the customers, one of the most hatchet-faced buzzkillers bellied-up to the bar and ordered a large whisky. Having garnered the attention of the bar, she then produced a worm and dropped the unfortunate creature in said whisky. Whereupon it died. With I triumphant look upon her face, the battleaxe cried out, "See what it does to this poor creature? What does that tell you about whisky?"
At which a louche and droll drunkard (who may well have been an ancestor of Giles (if not, indeed, Giles himself; his age is indeterminate due to his imbibing of embalming fluid when he worked, briefly, as an undertaker's apprentice, sometime in the mid 50s)), remarked, "If you've got worms, drink whisky!" And proceeded to do just that.
So remember, to every single argument put forward by the abolitionists, there are answers that will not only make them look dumb but also get you free drinks.
