Yet another "Heavy Metal" band jump on the Beer Bandwagon
The Metal group, "Mastodon" are joining the list of "artistes" with their own-label brews, promising an 8.3% ABV craft ale called "Black Tongue", after their "hit" of the same name.

Just saw Mastodon on tour this summer, with Amon Amarth, and a shite ton of other bands at Mayhem Fest. Saw Battlecross, Huntress, Scorpion Child, Born of Osiris, and others I cannot remember. Left before the headliner Rob Zombie (he is still making music? Shite).

Re: Yet another "Heavy Metal" band jump on the Beer Bandwag
I'm a bit of a mixed drink on this issue. In one sense I find it kinda vulgar, and obviously consumeristic. Why does every band need a beer, wine or cognac bottle with their name on it? Why can't drinking beer and LISTENING to music be enough by itself, without having to see the axe wielding, grinning, cartoon-ass mascot on the label too? It's simply overdoing it IMO. It's the KISS coffin of modern drinking culture.
How are these assholes brewmasters anyway? I think Boozy's a nice guy, but you don't see his face on the label. I trust he would do an equally fine job despite being non-famous (even if he is infamous).
Gazing into my crystal ball, I prophesize that there will soon be products that cater to all daily rock'n'roll needs. Rock'n'roll toast, rock'n'roll toothpaste, rock'n'roll orange juice... Metallica polo sweaters, Ramones golf clubs, Ronnie James Dio rectal thermometers. Nowhere should a person have do anything that by itself isn't rock'n'roll related when living his crazy rock'n'roll and arguably insane metal lifestyle \m/
It won't be enough for people to drink their weak jack & cokes. Until Brown-Forman takes responsibily and create a premixed and branded version, they'll soon be diluting Nightwish Peach Canei with Dimmu Borgir cola.
Seriously though. A festival up here already started pushing official festival coffee year round. Of course it's not regular coffee, oh no, it's ROCK COFFEE man! It even says "black" on the packaging (hah, get it???? BLACK METAL RIGHT?! RIGHT!!!!), as if there is any other kind on that proto-beverage level.

Re: Yet another "Heavy Metal" band jump on the Beer Bandwag
One of these metal bands needs to come out with something truly original. Say, the world's first distilled beverage made with 100% sacrificial goat's blood.
That would get my attention. It would also answer an interesting question. Can one ferment blood? Does it require a diabetic goat?

Re: Yet another "Heavy Metal" band jump on the Beer Bandwag
Sad part is I'd try the Motorhead beer if I ever saw it for sale here. I doubt it's all that awesome, most likely a sub par oat soda with a Motorhead logo slapped on the bottle. Probably not much better than the AC/DC beer.
Speaking of rock n' roll beers, has anyone tried the Metallica beer that Stone makes? I'm curious but I haven't seen it in the make your own sixer cooler at the store.

Re: Yet another "Heavy Metal" band jump on the Beer Bandwagon
Red wine you say...could've sworn Motorhead had some kind of beer made that has their name and logo on the label. At rate novelty wine, beer etc is probably sub par at best.
Re: Yet another "Heavy Metal" band jump on the Beer Bandwagon
Like Lem would drink either. Jack and coke only for him.

I see your point now Oett.

The splashing effect on the middle one is terrible.
Don't worry. We're in no hurry.
