Volunteers Required for Drunkard Con. 2014

Post by Palinka (RIP) »

With Drunkard Con. 2014 fast approaching (expect exact dates soon), we are making an appeal for volunteers. Obviously, the more things that we can keep in-house, the less we have to spend on outside help and, therefore, the more money we have to stock the "free bar".

So, this is a call out to any and all of those who will attend to ask for volunteers and that which you wish to volunteer for. For example, we will need people to help in the kitchen, people to help out with a possible barbecue, people to help carry stuff, people prepared to go and pick up incoming Modern Drunkards from the airport, people to help check stock, people to help keep things reasonably clean and a bunch of other stuff.

So, if you are willing to help out, please put your MDM name down within this thread, along with your preference of task (and any specialist skills that you may have), how many hours you are prepared to give to enable the Con. to run as smoothly as possible, and them PM me your name (you can just use a first name, if you wish) and contact information (a regularly used email address is a must, a telephone number will be helpful as we get closer to the Con.).

I am afraid that in order to dissuade everyone from volunteering for Barstaff duties, that particular duty has been filled (although a lucky few of those who do volunteer may have their names pulled from the hat for a shift or two at the bar - though not necessarily bartending).

All volunteers will receive some form of recognition for their kind service (we just don't know what that will be just yet, but it will be comensurate to the hours given).

Please put your names below.

Thank you on behalf of the organising committee.

i can do whatever needs doing. i'm good in the kitchen at all levels- pot scrubber to chef. very comfortable with barbequeing. i can clean stuff. i can make stuff dirty. i will be in a truck filled with all sorts of nifty carpentry tools. i will not kill the deer but i will hang, field dress, butcher and cook it. i become less and less reliable as the day wears on. forewarned is forearmed.
it's all good in the woods, nobody hears me when i scream.

I know my way around a kitchen and/or BBQ quite well and happy to help (assuming someone will take goose-wrangling responsibilities). :)

Palinka, Goose-wrangling may need to be a volunteer position. Or you may have to pay someone to do it.

Don't worry, Oggar will be in charge of goose-wrangling.

Shit.

Seriously though, we Geese don't mind cooking, cleaning, overseeing the bail bond fund, booze runs, meal-planning, etc. Our generous benefactor, slushfund is doing the heavy lifting on this drunkard's carousel so I don't think it will be an issue with lack of help.

We could just bring in these folks... professional geese wranglers.

I'm a little worried though.... if it takes four of them to wrangle a mother goose and chicks, how many will it take for a knife-wielding goose charging out of a tent?

Just don't call this guy in. His methods are extreme.

Another thing, I'm not sure what to volunteer.

I'm either certified, licensed or know a bit about most of the following...

Drinking
Heavy Equipment Mobilization
Towing/Repo
Emergency Jump Starts
Estate Planning/Trusts
Scraping and Pulp Wood Hauling
Tracking
Liquor Licenses
Euchre
Insurrections
The Council of Nicaea
Angostura Bitters
Arc Welding
Spur Whirling
Sous chef
Dodgeball

So if I can be of help in any of these areas, let me know.

They best saddle up a garrison, because.......well....I'll just hide behind Oggar.

Surreal, as far as your volunteer skills go I am duly impressed. Now if you could you throw on optometrist and lens grinder (for when I inevitably lose my glasses [and my 2 pair of backups ]), that would be greatly appreciated. If anyone that knows the area could look up a decent meat market in the area and shoot me a link, we could start putting some meal plans together, for review by others ahead of time of course. This is going to be very, very cool.

there is very little in the area as far as meat markets or anything. the location is somewhat out in the sticks (slush, if i'm wrong please correct me). i live about 90 minutes away, maybe 2 hours if i'm collecting passengers at bradley airport. i have a truck. there will be coolers in my truck. i will be coming from and passing through populated areas, some of which have grocers, butchers and purveyors of sundries.
i'm not paladin by any stretch but have truck, will travel.

There can be no guest bartending in the restaurant. Probably.

Use my services as needed. I can fix most forms of industrial machinery and electrical controls. I can help with the bar-b-que and clean up as well.

I break metal for a living so there is that. I also have rental houses so I know my way around wiring, construction and building codes.

I am quite adept at balancing things on my head (sometimes), drinking what was on my head, injuring myself without remembering it, pissing outside, prepping food. smoking cigarettes and knowing everything about a small genre of music that no one cares about. However, I think you already have my duties assigned. I am willing to help for a couple of hours per day.

Another question...How many people are staying Monday night (if that is even an option)? For that matter, how many people are even staying Sunday night?
